36ers vs Slingers, tonight

Game won't start until about 9:30 Adelaide time, I think.

Tips?

Slingers by a dozen. Adelaide will make a run at some point, but the conditions over there and the fact that the Slingers are desperate for a win will get them home.

Sixers will win. The shame of so many consecutive losses will boost them, hopefully. They will to put the weather conditions aside and concentrate on the game. Its not exactly a heavenly situation for the Slingers also. I am sure they are not too comfortable in those conditions regardless of how long they have had to adjust.

all the Slingers home-games are seriously crap; the referee actually stands on the court and yells out 'GO SLINGERS!' how wacked is that?

and the Slingers are the most boegus team EVER; they have only one player who is singaporean, and he only comes onto the court 54 seconds before the game is over. the rest of the guys are either australian or american.

oh, well, no one goes to the games in singapore any way. only like, 50 seats egt taken...The home games bite. so who else is going tonight? see you there

far out..

Roy Bird - the humidity has proven to be a problem for visiting teams, even if they go a day earlier to acclimatise. Note the Slingers 8-6 home record - I think that the Hawks are the only bottom four team to have beaten them in Singapore?

Is it the climate or the travel? Remember the NBL busted up the doomsday double as it was too much of an advantage for Perth and Adelaide to play team after flying for 3 hours.

Danger Mouse, 8pm in Perth is 9.30pm in Adelaide. Perth also has daylight saving. I don't know what the delay is in starting the game unless it has already started but the NBL scoreboard in not operating.

Waivers means two games out and he's missed three I think.

(I think he'll recover in time for the Cairns home game, and play it as a farewell match.)

Anyway, surely we know by now to not be too reliant on the NBL's live scores, especially not when they're running out of Singapore?

If Farley was just coming back from injury, I don't think they'd risk a long flight - remember that it was the Perth flight that caused trouble in the first place.

Reply #117337 | Report this post

Corey
Years ago

Not correct Danger Mouse, we are 1.5 hours ahead of Perth, currently 9:50pm in Adelaide, 8:20pm in Perth.

NBL site had 8:00pm WST which they have not corrected to WDST (Perth only went Daylight Saving before Xmas), therefore it should read 9:00pm WDST which makes a 10:30pm start here in Adelaide....

That was about as clear as Willie's injury....

If you pass Timmons' current statline through the Vodka-Bar-Converter, he has 26 points and 15 rebounds after nine minutes of play!

Just kidding (actually, I am amazed at his lack of rebounds for a big man).

Trahair rampant - at the pub last night we were talking about how many years he might have left to go and here he has 10 points in under 10 minutes.

36ers have the bench on now - Timmons, Wheeler, Ng, Sutton, Majstro.

53-47 down at the half. Slingers offence seems a bit too easy. Trahair on 18 at the half, Chandler with 11 and Melmeth on 10.

For 36ers, both Copes and Horvath on 12 a piece.

I just think they will have too much fire power for Adelaide but we will have to wait and see.

Lets go 36ers!

Damm pity the scores werent right at the start with Farley, with him in we prob woulda hada good chance of winning. As he is a match winner and comes up big in the clutch and i reckon he would of given us the extra punch needed to take us to the win. Ahh well season is over now as far as play offs go sadly, as id say we would need to beat Melbourne and Cairns to have any chance and cant see us getting those 2 games. Interesting times ahead for the future.

Has been one of the toughest season's. As if Smyth, weather you like him or not, hasn't been able to get anything that resembles hunger from anyone.

Up 5 with 4min left....thats when the killer blow comes in to play. maybe a loose ball dived on, and block and risk at a steal. Suppose the Mee/Cat years of that stuff are well and truly gone...in ADELAIDE. Sad times.

Farley would have helped us?! when was the last time he rocked up on the road ... as for clutch play - have you watched him this season ? Yes, his 2002 season was awesome, but since then, he has been a streak-shooter at best, with periods of extreme spinelessness (yeah, i'm making up words..) Happy to see him go.

Yea i think Farley definatly would have helped, like he has still been ok this season, not as good as in previous but still one of the best players on the team and in the top tier across the league, his stats of around 20,3,5 stack up with his previous seasons, and even though he has been a bit off this season, he has helped us win the games we hav won this year, its not like we are winning without him, i think its more to do with the lack of a decent SF more than Farley resulting in our poor season.

Excellent point about Nash. I am sure that opposing teams spend hours planning how to shut that offensive dynamo out of the game. And to think he actually started as well. It is simply unbelievable.
And when is Smyth going to be asked the question why Horvath only ever scores in the first half and has so limited numbers of shots. What is the problem Phil? Is it your complete lack of effectiveness as a coach? Or the players not doing as instructed? Or Horvath not presenting himself? I am sure he would not concede to the first option, but just tell us!
