Funny Holmes on radio last night
KG and Cornesy (usual culprits!) interviewed Jacob Holmes last night on their radio program. As always, lots of laughs and far too much talk about Paul Rees than is healthy.
Holmes had just had a Cortizone shot in his ankle after it had caused him discomfort during the week. He said the shot hurt more than he expected, but he is very confident of being fully-fit and back for the Sixers game against the Cairns Taipans this Saturday night.
On last weeks game, he said that the Sixers had an average start missing a lot of early shots, but they picked up towards the end, including the final 4-minute blow out that gave them the 104-78 win. He said that you can't lose when Reesy is hitting threes, and that Paul Rees was "on fire" as much as Paul Rees could be on fire. Commented that it was a great finish for the crowd.
They talked about Farley being the most exciting import who has played for Adelaide. Holmes said that Farley was even more impressive in trainings, making moves that made them all stop and stare. Remarked that Willie was an out-and-out scorer, whereas Darnell Mee had been more of an on court leader, and Mark Davis had been a bigger threat in solid scoring and rebounding.
Cornesy mentioned that Adelaide hadn't yet played the gun teams and also that they've enjoyed a string of home games which would have helped their ladder position. With the Kings and Tigers games still to come, they talked about these games being a better test of where the Sixers sit in the scheme of things.
KG said, "You can only beat who you play."
Holmes responded to career questions saying that he was indeed a full-time basketball player, but dabbled in a bit of university study on the side. He's undertaken a Bachelor of Arts (joked that it was a "BA of Nothing") and hinted at an intention of moving towards marketing and finance.
He said that the game against Cairns on Saturday would be the Taipans' third game for the round and that he hoped it would mean they were 'ripe for the picking'. KG and Cornesy wished him luck and sent their best to Reesy.
Cornesy finished the segment by encouraging KG to go and see Farley play.
