WNBL announces free agents

2006/07 Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) MVP Hollie Grima headlines the 2007 defencejobs WNBL free agents list that was released today.

Fellow world champion Opals Tully Bevilaqua (Canberra) and Emily McInerny (Dandenong) and 2006/07 All-Star Five member Sharin Milner (Bulleen) are also on the list.

2006/07 grand finalists Sydney University will go through the least amount of personnel change of any club with the only four players listed for free agency.

By comparison, the Perth Lynx have listed 18 players, including Commonwealth Games gold medalist Carly Wilson.

The free agent list is made up of players who completed their contracts at the end of the 2006/07 season, making them eligible for recruitment.
Prior to the release of the list, teams were permitted to re-sign their own free agents, but not players from rival clubs.

29 Free Agents from the 2 Melbourne sides. Does that assist in Bendigo in their recruiting as well, as these players wouldn't even have to move states (Bendigo is only just over an hour from Melbourne!)
