Did anyone else watch the final ever episode of the Sopranos?

Total genius ending for the greatest TV show ever created.

I doubt there will be a movie. Gandolphini is through with playing Tony apparantly.

My theory is that the whole last episode was a dream sequence. Reality ended at the end of the 2nd last episode when he want to bed.

DB5 - It was on Sunday night US time. We wont see it here for at least another year probably - thanks channel 9!

boys, hate to burst your bubble. perhaps you should watch it again. tony was killed in the last scene. so there cant be a movie.

He could have been killed, or he could have been busted by the feds, or life could have just gone on like usual, or it could have been a dream - evidence is there for all of the above theories.

Check out Bill Simmon's latest chap wrap on espn.com

Half of it revolves around the Sopranos finale with possible interpretations and touches on whether there are grounds for a movie down the track - top read.

think about this. in the diner, lifes grand. watching his daughter walk through the door. then...... black! the same thing happened to phil leotardo. a gun walked up to him and popped him from behind. it was a hit through the eyes of the target. the guy sitting at the bar, who then walks into the toilets- al pacino godfather. watch it again boys.

Cheers Kwest..

God I hate it how free to air puts good shows on late, complain about the ratings, then dump them halfway through the season!!

Sopranos and The Shield are 2 quality shows that are consistently screwed...

Curb your enthusiasm also gets royally screwed by nine..

One reason I think it is a dream episode is that Phil Leotardo doesnt have any kids! Therefore he couldnt have any grandchildren which were shown in the car before he got shot. There were a whole bunch of anomalies like that throughout the episode. eg the Cat, Tony looking at himself sitting in the diner as he walked in etc. The whole episode just had a dream like feel to it - similar to the movie 'Stay'.

Nothing happened. The show was about his family, and ended with it being about his family. The final scene, where everyone thinks the guy is going to come out of the toilet with the gun, gives the audience the look over your shoulder at all times mentality that Tony lives with everyday. Tony continues living with that mentality, and life goes on.

Disappointing end to a great show that was unfortunately unfocussed in its final season.

Love the Phil Leotardo death btw.

Its a lot more complex than that if you pay close attention throughout the episode. Everything is ambigious.

eg the house brochure Carmela is looking at wishfully - could that be a new house that they are to be set up with in the witness protection program - or is it just part of her real estate interests?

When Tony is outside sweeping and looks up at the duck noises and smiles - is he thinking about how he finally accepts the ducks being free, and in turn is finally willing to turn away from the mob life? Or is he just enjoying the fresh air?

I agree the first part of the final season was not the greatest - but the last 6 or 7 episodes were powerful.

Double Clutch,
Check out end of second to last epp. tony has a flash back with bobby in the boat. quoted as saying "you never even hear it happen." just black. i'm convinced he was killed. David Chase refers to Martin Scorsese's quote about the "threat" of violence being more powerful.

food for thought.
