I missed out again ... damn it.

I am going to take this oppurtunity to offically retire from the Australian Boomers. It is has been a wonderful journey while it has lasted but I have think it has come time to put my family and my career first.

Having never been offically selected to be a member of the Boomers (or any Australian Basketball Squad be it the Joeys et al) never dampened my spirits or my love of my country or basketball.

However, my glaring ommission from this latest Boomers squad is the straw the inevitibly has broken my back.

I will always be around basketball offering my services in a mentoring capacity but I can no longer take the heartache and rejection from not being a member of the team.

Thank you all - it has been fun

SVD you didnt stand much of a chance, unless your a kings player. when boy goorj looks to have slected 6 kings players...

who out of those kings players, currently starts on the bench for the NBL?

whoever that is, he obviously considers them better than some other home grown talent playing decent minutes elsewhere. hmmm...

What about Barlow? Injured or just not a King anymore?

Stephen Black available?

Harvey not considered?

Aaron Bruce in the US?

No Bogut, is guess he's an automatic selection come game time

Why just not add BJ Carter, Tovey and Susnjara to the squad so all the Kings can kiss Goorj's ar$e as a group.

Crosswhite, Smith and Hinder... pfft

I'd take SVD over Jacob "no arc in my shot" Holmes

Only 1 centre in the squad? Will Schenscher even play?

I am surprised that no other posters have questions the inclusion of Matt Burston. A player who has barely seen any NBL minutes in recent memory and is extremely injury prone wouldn't be high on my list of selections until both those area's were addressed.

Obviously there are the questionable King player inclusions in there but by now we are a little less sensitive to those.

Burston's not at that level, even when 100%. How he, and Crosswhite (King or not) made that list.... Especially if Aleks Maric was availiable, although I think I read that he didn't go to the first camp? Maybe that had a negative effect.

I think Bruce is doing summer scholl back in the US Nutwork, but we sure could could of used him.

Also suprised to see no Kickert. Maybe injured?

Looking at that squad, maybe the team will look like:

Mee/Gibson (though, you just KNOW that Kendall will get in there)
Newley/Ryan/Ingles
Mackinnon/Saville/Wortho
Anderson/Loughton
Schenscher/Helliwell(unfortunately)

This concerns me big time. Hardly a squad that would send shivers through NZ and they must think they are a real chance. Fact is, lose this series and the repecharge will be harder to get through. We now face the real possibility of not going to the next Olympics. Hope I'm wrong.

Burston can't even be significant in Big V, where he should otherwise be dominant. No way should he be in the squad.

why doesnt Stephen Hoare ever get a run in the boomers, best sixth man 2 years in a row, always puts up great stats!

Anyone have the power that reads this REMOVE Goorj!!

We are never going to be a competitive nation in basketball, if we just keep picking the people he likes

So Martin Cattalini must have a had a really bad season this year, Oh wait he was unstoppable for most of the season, Guess he told Goorjian just how much of a knob head he was and wouldnt be selected for that, I see no other viable reasons. Hes got the experience and more skill that 80% of the players in that team.

Cat has said he's not up to international duties anymore. So don't blame it on Goorj.

As eluded to by Izzy... I hope the Boomers don't qualify for the Olympics... maybe Basketball Australia will then pull their head out of their A#@E and stop this Boy Goorj nonsense and get an unbiased coach in there.... what a joke!
