New operational changes at Link Lightning

Vince Marino, owner of the Link Lightning WNBL team, wishes to advise that, following the decision of CEO, Mike Daws to retire from the position and pursue other interests, he has re-structured the administration team by appointing former Lightning player, Carla Boyd, to the position of Operations Manager and current Lightning Assistant Coach, Marcus Wong, as the team's financial officer.

This should be great for the club, Mike has done a great job getting the club to where it is now.

Good luck Carla

Mike had a one year deal. He's a wonderful operator but the Lightning couldn't afford him for more than a year. He probably sacrificed $ as it was.

Is that you again Mike (anon 146842)
A nice enough guy but not really the right person for the job.
The slowly, slowly approach doesn't really cut it when you are competing with other sports for sponsorship dollars and media coverage.
If by wonderful operator you mean creepy and at times inappropriate then perhaps you are right.
At the end of the day anyone getting paid big bucks and not delivering on their part of the deal is going take a fall sooner or later.

Couldn't be Mike - he only knows how to look at the pretty pictures on the intermanet... besides, posting something would require him to actually do something (a health risk at his age).

Big bucks is not even remotely close.

ENORMOUS bucks for someone to sit on their hands in a retirement-like fashion merely buying time, particularly in a club that could have done so much more with the money is disgraceful.

Even creepy and inappropriate doesn't cut it.

A little less conversation, a little more action sums up the next phase - GOOD LUCK CARLA!!!

Does anyone even know how Carla got the job ? Does she have any prior experience? I seriously hope this is just not another case of giving a retired basketballer a job, then trying to find something for them to do, because gosh that's worked well in the past.
Mind you, Vince can probably buy 4 Carla's for the price of one Mike. Maybe the extra money can go towards more than one course at this seasons MVP dinner.

Boti's article mentioned that Mike was 53. That can't be right can it ?
I would have thought the guy was at least in his 60's.
Never really could understand why the club needed a CEO anyway. I would have thought a couple of really good support staff would have been a much better option.
How much do you reckon he was on Anon ? 100k, 150k ? Surely not...
