Dwindling NBL talent pool

Saw this in Boti's wrap up.

"Sam Mackinnon's decision to single out Cam Tragardh as a "player who couldn't get a job 12 months ago' to now being a star at the Hawks must have lit a fire under Big Cam.
Sam was making an observation about the NBL's alleged dwindling talent pool but my betting is Tragardh read the Courier Mail piece."

Can Sam just admit he's gotten heaps better?

"dwindling talent pool"??? I never heard anything about a dwindling talent pool. The talent pool has been getting better every year as far as I can see!

We are lucky there were so many players join the league this year (Loughton, Knight, Jawai, Bradshaw etc) otherwise we would be in BIG trouble. Look at Townsville who had to bring in Anthony Stewart with no training to try and fill a gap. That is sad.

Isn't it more a case of the talent not getting smaller but being streched over more teams?

It's more of a case of all the talent is in the US playing College.

Dont forget we have more talent overseas than any time in the past.

In the NCAA system we currently have bruce, neville, mills, maric, ogilvy, iti, dillon and baynes. Imagine all those guys in the same team in 3 years time!

In other pro leagues we have Bogat, Andersen, Schenscher, Newly and Neilson.

By my count, thats at least 10 players who would start for almost any NBL club.

No lack of talent. Lack of potential earning!

The majority of the talent pool is at the Bullets and the Tigers.......

Talent pool for Oz is better than ever. Yes the talent is spread over NBL, College, NBA and Europe but as stated money is the issue in keeping the talent at home.

Plenty of talented players are attending college programs and most will be back over the next few years. Below that there is plenty of talent at AIS and state teams programs around Oz.

Future of Oz ball is bright.

As for Cam Tragardh?? Well its great to see him use his opportunity. Sam is not known for trash talking through the media, not sure if Sam was quoted correctly by the reporter? Perhaps he was taken out of context, now that would be unusual for a reporter...

NBL should've reduced the points cap with the introduction of an additional team, not increased it.
