Bobcats and Pistons make trade

The Charlotte Bobcats have traded Primoz Brezec and Walter Hermann for Pistons Center Nazr Mohammed.

"A Pistons source said the trade came together quickly, after the Bobcats made a proposal Friday about 3 pm".

"Mohammed, a 6-10 center, hasn't played much this season (11 minutes per game, no starts, 3.3 ppg., 3.5 rpg.), but he's more of what Vincent envisions as a complement to Okafor -- a rebounder who can help keep Okafor out of foul trouble".

BREAKING DOWN THE TRADE

WHAT THE BOBCATS GET:

NAZR MOHAMMED

Career averages of 6.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 0.6 blocks

WHAT THE PISTONS GET:

PRIMOZ BREZEC

Career averages of 8.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.4 blocks

WALTER HERRMANN

Career averages of 7.8 points, 2.7 rebounds; 0.1 blocks

Does it seem like a good move for the 'Cats? I might have preferred and younger Piston like Maxiell or Amir Johnson but Mohammed is an experienced player who will hopefully help Okafor and the Bobcats excel.

There is no way the Pistons would trade away Maxiell or Amir.

Good trade for the Pistons - helps free up some serious cap space as both Brezec and Hermann's contract run out at the end of this season.

Primoz also is an expiring (team option from memory). Happy with this trade. Nazr gets the court time he wants, pushed Okafor to his natural PF and it gets rid of one of the worst defensive centres in the league along with a guy that wasn't part of the rotation.

I don't think Primoz will be around for long. Traded for a second rounder again or waived after a few months.

Brezec is a decent offensive centre, so he does actually have some value. He adds genuine height to the Pistons bench, something that it is slightly lacking. He could come off the bench for about 15-20 minutes and score 6-8 per game.

Herrmann did some handy things for the Bobcats in his rookie season. He's a pretty talented guy and a good shooter usually, so he's a good pickup as well.

IMO it's a great trade for Detroit. They don't really lose out if these players don't contribute a whole lot, and if they do, it'll be a bonus.

Have you looked at Primoz stats this year???

You'd be struggling to find anyone that would say Primoz is a offensive centre with averages of 1.0ppg and 0.7 offensive rpg. He's soft, plus has no power game. Likes his little jumpers too much.

He was worth chucking in and won't be a loss.

Bobcats are a defensive minded fast paced team now, both strong contradictions of Brezec's game. Even so he isnt even close to half the player he was 2 seasons ago. Herrmanns a talented player but with Okafor and Wallace demanding 40 mins a game in the front court and with Dudley coming on strong there was just no minutes for him. The bobcats needed rebounding and defense to propel their running game from and this is what they got. They gave up more in talent then they got, but gained more in terms of value to their team and style of play.
