Just wanted to know if there is a free program were you convert .avi files to .vob files so that you can watch them on TV. I've found plenty of programs which cost $40 or so but are there any free ones? Thanks

If you know your way around torrents (and aren't ethically opposed), try a program called ConvertXToDvd. It will convert to Vob and burn to DVD in one session.

Agree anon, i have tried finding them on the net but they are all either trials that cut out 5 minutes in or they ask you ti oay before the program starts.
CAN SOMEONE PLAESE TELL ME:
How can I find out if my DVD player supports NTSC or PAL? Can't find it in the manual.

put an ntsc dvd into your player and see if it plays. If it doesnt, than you prob dont have an ntsc dvd player. I think our dvd's in Australia are set to pal, but hey im just goin on general knowledge, i dont really specialise in DVD

Put a NTSC or Pal disc in it, then press "play".
If it plays, you know it works for that format.
I think NTSC is a colour format, so at worst you get a black and white picture.
Just out of interest, do you know for a fact that your TV will display NTSC format?
