Hummers - where are they?

Ever since the NBL announced Hummer as a major sponsor, I have been curious to see what the vehicles look like. I have yet to see one on the roads. Has anyone seen any? Considering I am on the roads everyday, and 5 times a week (40 kms round trip) in peak hour traffic, I find it difficult to believe that there are too many sold. Does anyone have any idea as to the popularity of this vehicle? They must be selling some as they would not be able to afford the sponsorship, but where?

Quite a few getting around up here - and it seems the colours of choice are either black or canary yellow! Also there is one parked out he front of the GCEC every Blaze game for promo purposes - surprised they dont do teh same thing at Sixers games.

I wouldnt be too worried though EC - your not missing much - ugly square thngs that they are!

The 36ers deal with Jarvis Subaru may prevent them from showing the Hummer outside the Dome.

I have seen a couple in Adelaide but they are not very common at all.

EC

Picture a massive brick with wheels.
Something that takes up the entire car lane.
It sits higher than a Nissan Patrol.
Carparking is a breeze, in Roxby Downs. Don't try parking/driving in Mawson Lakes.
They get around 4 mpg. (26L/100km) and they look
U-G-L-Y.....

I see them all the time here, but then to get to work I have to go through St Kilda, Brighton, Sandringham (a very wealthy area).

I quite like the H3, which by the way has a 3.7litre V6 motor and mileage that ranks quite OK amongst all the other 4wd's on the road (14litres/100km). Price-wise, they're also quite reasonable for what you get.

The BIG butt-ugly ones are the H2's and can only be special ordered.

The H3 - the only model selling here - isn't *that* big, about the size of a Prado. There are loads around Sydney, they're very competitively priced.

Typically it was you Kent that bought up that Hummer....

Bloke I know just salary sacrificed a new black H3 and it looks pretty good. He's rubs one out most nights to the catalogue (he's still waiting for delivery) and spend countless hours on the website.

Last home game, there was a Black one with Victorian plates parked out in the Players Car Park, never did find out why it was there, unless it was Demo from the SA Hummer Dealership

They underestimated the Australian market and are at almost 2,000 on back order.

Considering dealerships opened in the Eastern States first I dare say they were on back order before the SA dealership was even open hence the lack of them on the streets in SA.

As per above the H3 is quite acceptable in terms of 4wd price and mileage.

At 59K for the top of the range, plus on roads....damn i would have one before any HSV

I would have a Chrysler 300C before a HSV (Glorified Commodore)

A Landcruiser is worth more than the H3 Hummer

Mind you........the H2 is the real thing

Thanks for all the responses, I feel like I know the vehicle very well. I did suspect that the Eastern states is where you would see them mostly. For all its worth, the only one I've seen was in the toy section of Target when doing Christmas shopping. Even the toy version looked big and boxy.

A hummer before a HSV ? At least the HSV (In VE spec at least) can muster 307kw, seat 5 comfortably and if driven sensibly on the highway return about 9.5L/100km (mind you it jumps to over 20L/100km if you drive it like you stole it) Can't see the H2 or H3 achieving any of the above.

The court announcer keeps announcing
It's Hummer Time" just as the game starts, but what is that all about..? A prize give away? How do you win?

Reply #164897 | Report this post

You have to be MVP of the league to win the prize...

The competition this year is known as the Hummer Championship which is the reason for the announcement at the beginning of each game.

A young lady stopped me on Hanson Rd yesterday and offered me a Hummer for $20.

I declined because I thought there must have been a catch.

Hummer is also negotiating to sponsor the National Netball League. The sticking point is that so far none of the teams is willing to change their bird-themed mascot to "Swallows".

Im sure the H3 Hummer can seat 5 in comfort as well

And as for Kilowatts.....How can u compare a 6.0 ltr V8 to a 3.8 V6

Im saying....every man and his dog has a SS or HSV, XR6 or XR8

I would wanna be driving something that u dont see every day

H3 is basically a outdated Holden/Isuzu Rodeo underneath.
Rear seating is compromised and not nearly as roomy as you would expect.

Thanks for the heads up mate. I've been told my humour's fairly cryptic, but those that are familiar with my warped mind, or take the time, seem to get a buzz.
I gotta say, the DD-fan-ni-lic wasn't something I saw coming. Best come-back ever. Humourous, clever, & locked into my good times bank.
Cheers mate.
