Do fans really want to win?

The following is a survey question on NBA.com...
If you can start a team with one player for one season, who would you choose?
Kobe Bryant, Lakers
Tim Duncan, Spurs
LeBron James, Cavaliers
Steve Nash, Suns

Not surprisingly, Tim Duncan came in last with 3% of the vote. He of the 4 championships.
The best defender in the NBA (forget who wins the award- he is the best)

What is up with that?
Do fans want to win?

Kobe, what does being a point guard have to do with anything? And since when were Kobe and LeBron PG's anyway?

As for the poll itself, doesn't suprise me. Duncan gets my vote, but people look at him and see a boring post up player. They look at Kobe and LeBron and see flashy ahtletic players, and they will always get the vote.

but what does him or any other player being or not being a point guard have anything to do with if you'd choose him to start a franchise.

so.... just because he isn't a guard doesn't mean he's an all round player???

Kobe and Lebron don't rebound like Duncan, so that means they aren't all round players. Duncan blocks more shots than Kobe and Lebron, but just because he isn't a guard he's not in the same 'all round' category as Kobe and Lebron.

Duncan has more MVP's and Championship rings than Kobe and Lebron combined....

.......huh?

First, you said PG. Second, just because Duncan's not a guard means he's not an all-round player? LeBron is an SF, KG and Shawn Marion are two of the most all-round players in the league. Timmy is the best post player/passing bigman in the game, and is one of the defensive players in the league too, so how is he not an allround player?

Spurs offence is all about TD. He sets the picks for the rolls, he comands constant defensive attention that allows parker and gino to attack the rim. Big defenders don't leave timmy to help on D.

In defence, tim is in the paint which allows perimeter defenders to get in the face of the opposition and make every jumper highly contested. To play so tight on the perimeter would usually cost you when they start driving but tim is a safety net unparalled in this league.

So when you talk about the "all round" player,
show some sense and realise that tim duncans fingerprint is on EVERY offensive set and EVERY defensive set the spurs run.

Want some proof?
Trade him to the cavs for le-bron.
Trade him to the suns for nash.
Trade him to the lakers for kobe.

Spurs get worse. The other team gets better. period.

(Thought it important to tell you i'm not a spurs fan, there is no bias here.)

Lebron by far. He has a bunch of muppets playing around him but still manages to win a few games and took his team to the NBA finals last year! Your a clown if you think Duncan is of as much value. He has a decent team around him (of role players) and a brilliant coach who gets the best out of the entire squad.

How did lebron go when he faced tim in the finals last year?
