Tournament Dates?

Wondered why tournament dates were so badly structured, end of school holidays, Easter etc and if this played any part in the down turn of the sport. Not too many parents get upset when little Johnny says, 'enough of basketball Im playing footy'. All sports demand a lot of parents but basketball gets more than its pound of flesh with the distances you have to travel to play so spread around, the costs of entry for players and spectators, bench duties and a
summer season that is broken and futile without
losing more family time to tournaments especially at Easter.

you have burn out, take a break - maybe your child could take up gymnastics - train 5-6 days per week and go overseas to compete at highest level - i was happy they swapped to basketball.

Having recently competed in the senior country championships, our association have questioned the timing of the senior event and the location. Wayville is a good venue 10 months of the year, however during January and February the stadium is like a sauna. The lack of fans and a/c units places great stress on the players, particularly when they have to play twice a day. Surely another ventilated stadium is available or perhaps the senior carnival could be scheduled for an alternate weekend.

The carnival appeared to run smoothly, however saturday's conditions made it a tough first day for players.

Try swimming.

12 months of the year, 4am starts - but you do get one day off each week.

... but if you want to get serious about your swimming, add gym sessions and afternoon training some days as well.
