Sixers name change

Tonight on 5AA, KG and Cornes were discussing the rumour that the Adelaide 36ERS were to change their name (to the "Sixers"). Cornes mentioned a press conference called for 9:15am tomorrow.

Cornes also wondered why they would bother changing their name (he's a fan and has seats near the opposition bench).

The "Sixers" name has been pretty obvious on the new site and mail-out, so I'm assuming that they'll be making some player announcements too...

Heard on the radio on the way to work this morning that they are expected to announce the signing of Willie Farley today. Lets hope they announce Rees and Williams too.

They will be branding the team as "sixers" but will still be called the 36ers officially....remember when they became the "west end super sixers" as their official name? that was bad!!

In the NBA, Philadelphia have had only SIXERS on their uniforms for years, but are officially known as the Philadelphia 76ers.
I assume that the same would apply to the Adelaide 36ers.

At least having SIXERS on the uniform is way better than the years when WEST END was the only name on the uniform.
How pathetic that on overseas tours the Sixers played with those uniforms. (Go West Enders)Of course there was the year the uniforms showed they were the EAGLE SUPERs.

Sponsors come and go but the Sixers march on.

Go the SIXERS !!!
