Hodge departs for US, will enter D-League draft

Adelaide 36ers import Julius Hodge will leave for the US tomorrow.

There, he will throw his hat in the ring for the NBA D-League Draft.

The 36ers remain committed to gaining his signature for the 2008/09 NBL season.

Heard Phyl Smith and Steve and Bauer, all mention that is what Hodge said he would be doing, right from the start of arriving here.
Anyways they know Julius and his agent.
NBA or here I would think.

And why would he turned down much much larger offers elsewhere?

Only that he said he didn't like Italy at all, but loved it here.

If he's going in the D League draft you'd think he's a dead cert to get drafted and therefore won't be playing NBL next year? Or do the season not overlap?

You'd think he'd go pretty high in the D League draft wouldn't you? Imagine the hit your pride would take if you got drafted lower in the D League than you did 3 years early in the big show.

The D-League doesnt pay very well. The only reason he would be going into it would be to impress NAB teams and get a call up, if not I think you will see him back in Adelaide!

But when does the season run? Does it overlap with NBL?
