Country /State Championships

Can anyone from Country tell me if any of these country teams will be particapating in State Champs in May. After having a look on the weekend, I believe a few of these sides would be very competitive if not win our local States. Is there a limit, ie only Grand Final winner eligable to go in or can any anyone go in it?

Mildura and Broken Hill both competed. In any other sport, they can take the champsionship, but not the "State Title"

mildura and broken hill are important - we can entice good players - should they go to school or uni here.

Are you suggesting country association teams will challenge for Div 1 State Championships??

Unfortunately, a country team will always be around a Div 2 standard to a reasonable Div 1 standard. A good Div 1 team should always beat a country team because the city teams train and play together. A country team is always a composite team of the best players who have the skills, but just don't have the combined game skills. If they played as a team in their local comp. - look out Sturt!

PS: Don't forget that a city team pulls from a population base of around 100,000 people. Even the largest city like the Mount only has 30,000 people to draw from.
