Here are my thoughts on the lads:

They match-up well size-wise.

They can really light up the scoreboard.

They play an up-tempo game.

They'll be dancing in March.

They play an exciting brand of basketball.

They play above the rim.

They move well without the ball.

They live and die by their outside shot.

They need to dominate the boards.

They need to dominate the paint.

They need to dominate the offensive glass.

They have to pound the ball inside.

They have to block out better.

They have to stop the dribble penetration.

They score a lot of points in transition.

They've been red-hot.

They've been on fire.

They're shooting the lights out.

They're making a living behind the 3-point arc.

It's raining threes.

They're shooting well from downtown.

They can't get their shots to fall.

They can't buy a basket.

They can't find their range.

They've been ice-cold.

The free throw shooting has been anemic.

They've been throwing up bricks.

He just threw up an air ball.

There's a lid on the basket.

That shot barely drew iron.

He lost the handle.

They need a timeout to stop the bleeding.

They've got to knock down their free throws.

I question their shot selection.

They have to find an answer for Reggie Miller.

It's been a game of runs.

Now's the time to run some clock.

They need a defensive stop.

It's a two possession game.

Ten seconds is like an eternity.

This game has turned into a track meet.

This game has turned into a free-throw shooting contest.

He's been quiet so far.

They've got to take it to the hole.

They've got to take it to the rack.

The big guy is really sweeping the glass.

He can really sky for those rebounds.

He's a force on the inside.

He can spot up for the open J.

That's his patented jumper.

He shoots a rainbow jumper.

They're really banging in there!

They have to body-up on the big guy.

He's a good X's and O's coach.

He runs a squeaky-clean program.

They're a blue collar team.

They've gone to a youth movement.

They've got tremendous mental toughness.

They're a dark horse team.

This team is showing flashes of brilliance.

They're finally hitting their stride.

This team is really starting to gel.

This team is starting to make some noise.

This could be a sleeper team.

They're a team to be reckoned with.

Everybody's on the same page.

The players have bought into the system.

They're doing all the little things you need to win.

This team is not going to sneak up on anybody.

This team has turned the corner.

This team has raised the bar.

They've gotten over the hump.

This team has finally gotten off the schneid.

They're loaded this year.

They have a strong supporting cast.

They've added a new wrinkle to their offense.

This team travels well.

Those players form their nucleus.

He's really whipped them into shape.

He's got them headed in the right direction.

This team takes on the personality of their coach.

He must challenge his players.

These guys have been working their tails off.

These guys have been busting their butts.

They're finally getting the respect they deserve.

They've been playing with confidence.

They've got great team chemistry.

This team is like a family.

They've got die-hard fans.

The city has rallied around this team.

You have to respect their quickness.

You have to respect their athleticism.

You have to respect their physicality.

They do a great job defensively.

They're a multi-faceted team.

They're an offensive-minded team.

They have a high-octane offense.

They have a potent offense.

They've got a lot of depth.

They pride themselves on their defense.

They have a stingy defense.

They have a swarming defense.

They play tough "D".

They play tenacious defense.

They play punishing defense.

They play tremendous pressure defense.

They play in-your-face defense.

They've been on a roll.

They're over-achievers.

They can go the distance.

They won't be denied.

They strike fear in the hearts of their opponents.

They've come out of nowhere.

They've returned from oblivion.

What an incredible turnaround.

They're a real Cinderella story.

They're having a storybook season.

They're having a dream season.

They're a better team than their record indicates.

They're no pushovers.

They give you so many different looks.

They have a lot of weapons.

They've got a tremendous ballclub.

This franchise has a storied past.

They're the winningest team in league history. Winningest?

They can put up big numbers.

They're playing with swagger.

They're a team of destiny.

They're on a mission.

Fuzzy, around the mark but 4 weeks behind the Vics who have named their team and are bonding and training as a team. We just don't learn.

The Vics already pounded on NSW metro at East Coast challenge, and that was without a couple of those players there mentioned i think. I've got my money on Vic taking everything, girls and boys 16 through 18. Happy day when SA might finally compete at all levels like the Vics do.

182602 - gee you're a brave little soldier, putting your money on the Vics in a Junior basketball tournament.

That'd be as crazy as putting money on a superman reference in a seinfeld episode.

I heard there was a change up in the 16's boys (Vics)coaching ranks, previous coach for 16 boys not coaching anymore.

My money is on the Vic C boys to win it. Picked their team about 2 weeks ago. New coach for Vic M, has been assistant before. Both NSW teams will be very good. Possible Vic M won't medal.

How are the SA teams looking at this stage ?

Suppose they still have squads of 40 and flogging em to death every sat and sunday arvo ?

We hear the SAC are stronger than metro this time round. They appear to be pretty strong based on what we saw at Albury. They handled both vic country teams fairly well in that carnival. The combine of the 2 teams from there must surely be stronger.

Eltham boy are you related to Victorian and Hillbilly who have been missing for some time, the last sighting having involved banjo's, pig noises and photographs of Margaret Thatcher?

Hopefully the winter seasons Under 16's Div 1 comp will help SA boys. Has not helped that most weeks teams are winning by 30 to 50 points during Summer season. The Winter season has had good competition so far. Don't forget Victorian teams with their development and pure numbers are helped by competitive games every week. Go SA M&C boys and girls.

Victorian is no relation to eltham boy. Was wondering who that was myself. He, the dandy boi and southern cuzin - got great enjoyment from southern cuzin who hit a cord are not known . Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing. I haven't been around for a while as have been busy working.

How did the baby sitting TI camps go this week ? Same old same old I presume. Same drills, same coaches, same outcomes. Kids scared not to attend cause they won't get on......

Why does it always come down to Vic population and numbers and competetive games each week. What about NSW ? They have big numbers and also get good games each week. The SA boys and Girls field good kids each year and as I mentioned before, the 16 boys were very unlucky last year. The 18's this year will be very good and should look to medal at least or challenge for the title.

It is not always numbers in Victoria as a lot of teams do not get good competition each week, maybe the coaches are doing something well, but it will be a very different U/16's than previous with thye Vic teams expected to do well, SA teams will be around the mark, Both NSW Teams will be strong and WA is always good. Luck and good management plays a huge roll.

Good Luck

Sounds like it will be the best U16 nationals for a long time with all these gun teams??

Tought from a thread earlier this year that 4 or 5 of the top SA Country players were not available due to footy?? Has this changed? If not, how can they compete?

Believe the norwood and sturt kids have both cracked under 17 SANFL footy - good effort for 15 year olds. Know the sturt kid is playing in SANFL country cup this week. Don't be surprised to unfortunately see them give bball away almost straight away.

NSW Metro - Young kid from Norths and very quick guard, coach is first time after several assit roles. Always tough in the Big Chair, rather than the back of the bike. Still will be very tough.

NSW Country - Big Kid from good stock (NBL)will be a factor if he keeps out of foul trouble and another player who fell foul of the ref's last year but has a very mature build and will look to be an impact player this year.

Vic Country will be the smokey's as no one ever seems concerned about them but they are always in the play at the end of the week. Coach has been there many times and have always got scapls.

They got a dumb Vic Metro unit- staff included, in 05 to win it, so do not underestimate them.

WA, home side, will play tough and up tempo and a little loose but also have a new coach so it is not a lock.

First year coaches include

Vic Metro
NSW Metro
NSW Country
Qld Sth
WA Metro

What is the word on the Queensland teams??

If both SA groups are good, both Vic groups good, both NSW groups good, maybe WA, perhaps one or both Qld groups good, maybe even NZ...

How could anyone tip a winner, not all the teams have even been decided yet??

Where is this info coming from??

Hoops 44

He did win it as a first year coach, not an issue with first year coaches, they won it against a sub standard unit from Vic Metro, also with a first year coach.

I guess what I am elluding to is that it will be a different U/16's due to all the good teams, but the Vic Country group will again be underestimated.

Look forward to a great tournament

Why is it that Vic Country are underestimated? Seem to have had pretty good results over the years, better than most by the looks of it? Is it just because they are country that we pass them off?

On another front, I have been told that this year the NSW teams will be the ones to look out for.

Do the SA teams have enough to take on both Vic and NSW groups??

um, like most lazy teams these days, if you 'pound it inside' (sounds like its coming from a 'big' player) other teams will just pack the keyway and zone if necessary. u cant commit to pounding it inside or living on the outside shot.

if these teams are anything trained like the 18's or 20's of last few years, then you know they wont compete with the vics or nsw.
