Friday Quiz - Five-by-Five Stats

A five-by-five is where a basketball player gets at least five in each of the positive categories (points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks) in one game.

Since 2000, only 3 NBA players have achieved this feat, name them.

Bonus points who can guess the shortest player to achieve a Five-By-Five.

(no cheating, no Google or Wiki!)

I remember AK47 did it a couple of times.

Jaml Tinsley did too i think,

Karl Malone would have gone close I reckon.
Top ten all time in Points, rbds, stls.

Could have had a big game with some blocks and assts??

Possibly KG?

KG, Malone, Magic and Jordan all come to mind, but the question was post-2000, however those players don't feature pre-2000 either.

Only 7 players all-time have achieved it (well, since all stats were recorded)

I think Delonte West might have when he was at the Celtics, if not he came pretty close from memory.

LeBron has to be one of them. 5 blocks is attainable for him.

Steve Nash I could see getting all those except the blocks..

If I had to guess I'd say Duncan and KG would be in there.

Hakeem had a shitload in his career

I know Camby and Kirilinko did, and Im going to agree with Quagmire on Tinsley as well - I think I remember that - the first time I was introduced to the idea of a 'five-by-five' game was.

But its also hard to imagine Josh Smith wouldn't have one...???

Thanks SVD, I was going to post the exact same link!

I wonder how many NBL and ABA players have done it?

Also interesting, no-one has ever got 10 blocks and 10 steals, even in separate games in their whole career!

Im sure Wilt would have if they recorded stats back then

begs the question, when the pacers finally give up on him, move him to some team real cheap, which team will reap the benefits of a rejuvinated Tinsley????
Think Miami would be stoked, if bulls pick rose and they get beasley...

I def think Tin-man has plenty more to offer the franchise that takes a punt on his health...

The NBA record for blocks in one game is 17 by Elmore Smith (October 28, 1973), and the record for steals in one game is 11, by Kendall Gill (April 3, 1999) and Larry Kenon (December 26, 1976). So people have recorded both of those milestones before.

so if we put the best stats together in one line, 100, 55, 30, 17, 11. Not to be sneezed at.

3, they meant the feat hasnt been achieved by the same player in their career eg. the same person got 10 steals and then later in their career got 10 blocks
