Plenty of space around Mile End for the Governments to build a few courts together.

If they could build the 24/7 Skate Park on North Tce, why can't someone do the same for a b-ball court?

It's exercise and not causing any harm.

Why not build it near the skate park, instead of this new stadium/hospital idea, which will probably just be more of a hassle traffic-wise in the city, and just make a current stadiums/hospitals redundant? Just upgrade the Royal Adelaide, and give people some recreation areas for basketball in the city.

A hospital so close to the CBD is a silly idea IMO - should be further out.

Unless they pulled them down, there is at least one basket/backboard and court area next to the skate park on North Terrace. Not sure about lighting.

There is plenty of space around Mile End. It's out the way from residents too.

So playing 24/7 wouldn't be a problem.

Perhaps we should scout out some locations and forward them to MP Kate Ellis given she's Minister for Youth & Sport.

I agree Issac. I really don't see the need for another new hospital in the city (especially in that spot, where it'd be a traffic nightmare), when they can easily spend the planned money to expand/upgrade the Royal Adelaide. I think a new stadium in that spot would be pointless as well. Hopefully the SA Government sees sense and doesn't spend the planned 100's of millions on either project, because it'd be a big unnecesary waste of money IMO.

But if they had to build either, I'd choose the sports venue for sure - loads of accommodation and entertainment nearby. The alternative is the western parklands - I'm sick of the sacred parklands being reserved for this lovely idea of having the green belt around the CBD when they're so poorly handled. You visit equivalent parklands in Sydney and Auckland and Adelaide's gardens look terrible in comparison.

Where are patients going to go when a certain ward of the RAH is closed due to the upgrades and renovations?

Not saying don't build the hospital, just don't build it on such prime real estate - move it further from the CBD. It's not like patients need to duck down to the casino, to Gouger St, do some shopping in Rundle Mall, etc. People will do that, however, before and after sporting events.
