all star five

Now that it is getting close to that time of the year, anybody have any thoughts on the ABL All-star five for this year?

Center: Nick Hambour (North)
Power forward: Peter Hoban (F/ville)
Small Forward: Keith Krause (norwood)
Shooting Guard: Eric Burdon (north)
Point Guard: Cam Wilson (w/ville)

That would be my choice

Has Halleran a good enough year. He has been Souths best player and they have made the finals for the first time in 10 years!

I do like Foshiz's 5 tho of Wilson, Burdon, Krause, Hambour and Hoban.

Others would be Mathews, Reardon, Zorich, Gerlach, Sutton, Halleran, Thompson, Puddifoot. Possible swap Hambour for someone like puddifoot or Gerlach ...both good all round players!

Not surprising that 10 of the 13 players mentioned are from the top 3 teams. 4 from north! one from south, centrals and woodville with 3 each from flames and eagles. none from sturt, southern, west and eastern!

About right really!

C Thomas McKenzie
PF Thomas McKenzie
SM Thomas McKenzie
SG Thomas McKenzie
PG Thomas McKenzie

The guy has been all world for south when given the chance to shine and not riding the pine. The Sixers need to really jump on board. If pushed he could be the Australian version of Koby Bryant. He plays out of position and still kills others. Im sure when the finals roll around everyone involved with South Australian basketball will witness the prowess that is "THE MAC"

no oakley this year. was lucky last year i thought. But this year if you take out his 46 points against woodville and 31 against centrals last week and he hasn't done much at all.

Would hardly say McKenzie kills others. Averaging 12 and 7 this year...actually down on points from last year. A good player but would struggle to make the third all star 5 team this year...or any year really.

mac is good for south but maybe not that good!
and Halleran's stats of late haven't been all star quality, esp against the top teams fuller is better for south and frost is up there also.
Oakley has been a great team player this year but I think positions can be filled by others playing better! I'd take keith over oak's.
and d. phillips......yeah maybe 3 years ago.

Hoban is a for sure. killed teams consistently this year.
Burdon no question.
Matthews....there's only a few guards that can go with him as proven by stats.

pudds has been consistent.

and the other spot is up for grabs.
The same names keep getting thrown around.

Not many people seem to fancy Shane Brehney of Eastern. If you look at the stats he has had a pretty consistent year and has scored points all round and easily been eastern's best player.

I would go for:

matthews
Hoban
krause
Puddifoot
burdon

Who is Richards? Hasn't left a lasting impression. What about Martin instead of Richards and Lauren Mansfield is a great consistent Point Guard

C: Francis
PF: Hill
SF: Newley
SG: Martin
PG: Mansfield

The Women have a few to chose from this Year also you can't over look Jess Foley she is playing so Great. Plus there are the regulars that front up every week like Tracy "B" etc. Not a easy choice for the women.
