Noticed a big Aba home game had a rookie ref working with an experienced ref
Now this type of rostering might be good for juniors however surly the top teams deserve two ref's who are up to standard.
What can Forestville expect this week against another top four team in South and should be game of the week?

Jen, rookie referee's have to start somewhere, to become more experienced and eventually become experienced refs.
If they only used experienced refs for the games, then there would be no new refs coming through the ranks. I think the idea of having an experienced ref with a rookie ref is great.
The rookie ref learns HEAPS from the experienced ref--It's great for rookie refs as it fast tracks their development.
Also, by saying that 'the top teams deserve two refs who are up to standard' you are implying that rookie refs aren't up to standard.
Been a rookie in any sense, doesn't mean you aren't up to the standard of others. Look at the NBA-There are rookies who are miles better in talent then seasoned veterans.
4 ABA level refs at U18 Nationals last week, 4 at U16 Nationals this week..... need to account for shortage somehow, rookies need to be blooded at sme stage.

When does a rookie cease to be a rookie. On the Forestville game last week the younger offical refereed ABA last season and has been on the roster just about every round this season. He even filled in for an injured official on a Men's game.

If you are talking about the mens game Jen, the littl ref was hardly a rookie. I have seen him around for a good 6 or 7 seasons of abl doing mens games. he's obviously not up to the standard of national panel refs like filmer and weiland but hardly the worst mens ref around.
