Junior Draw Realeased

The draw has been released for the first five rounds of the summer season (Friday and Thursday Draws).

I really like what BSA has done with the summer season. With some draws being split into 2 pools and some being played as a complete round robin. With crossover finals which means every team gets to play major round games

With some of the age groups having byes it makes for a shorter season.Im sure that BSA still charge the same fees as well as clubs for a shorter season.

I know that the clubs fees allow for two trainings however you still pay the same fees as a team playing ALL nine games.

Still we do save on one entry fee so I guess the $10.50 saving makes up for this.

have noticed that there is no Eastern Mavericks or STURT??? in under 20 div 1
I know eastern didnt have a team last season and are probably short on numbers again, but Sturt??
Sturt have a team in the div 2 comp but why no div 1 team? Players leaving to the AIS, college??

Players probably concentrating on reserves, wouldn't be surprised if sturt puts in a team for the winter season or there div 2 team comes up in winter.

Many of the Sturt Div 1 players are playing Div 1,2 men's over the summer.

Half of the Sturt U/20s will also be going on the SASI tour and will miss a fair chunk of the summer season - so instead of putting in a U/20 team, the club is playing these guys in Div 1 and 2 Men. Good experience for the guys.

thats ridiculous excuse by sturt - so if certain players unavailable - we dont play - what about giving the next lot of guys an opportunity - so unless your in the chosen few you dont get to play Div 1 - other clubs have kids away / exams / holidays /playing men etc - but sturt just law unto themselves -
BSA is weak in not enforcing the clubs to field a div 1 team - each grade - it just devalues the comp - so summer season is an optional extra - play if you want - pay same fees - but its not a proper season SILLY SEASON is always the name used and its correct Scrap the season - or maintain some consistency BSA
my opinion

but wouldnt playing a below par team devalue the comp even more? Theres no point putting in a team if it can't compete. And plus if they did put in a div one team and play the few people that are still in Adelaide, then they will have to bring up some players from the two's. What happens then? the div twos have to forfeit and the club is slugged with a fine. Where is the logic in entering a team that can not compete week in week out

So if Sturt don't have enough players to field 2 teams over a certain period of the season, they should be forced to forfiet for 5 weeks, and pay the forfiet fine, over a season that doesn't have finals, doesn't count for anything and therefore doesn't matter. Or would you rather BSA play the 5 make up games after the SASI tour in a competition that doesn't have finals, doesn't count for anything and therefore doesn't matter.

I think its a reasonable idea by sturt, anon those players who perform well in the division two team would have a great change at making the last spots in the division one team.

So again BSA buckle to Sturt demands - So the boys in Div 2 might have chance to play Div 1 when the team returns - yeap that makes sense i dont think so -
depth of talent here is the question and sturt admitting depth needs more prep - but never know if lads not give chance to play Div 1 - opportunity beckons and now not possible
logic in not entering a team that cant compete - sturt showing some sympathy for the struggling clubs -
tell that to the strugglers next time you cane them - wheres the logic then in beating them - thats right dont play them

how do the boys in div 2 feel, sorry boys we dont want you to play div1 because your not good enough, how about letting the boys try it might be good for them to play up a grade.

its happens at lesser clubs every season... why is it such a big deal now that its sturt?

because its sturt and they couldnt possibilily submit a less than splendid team in Div 1 - heaven forbid the evil empire would explode - or is a admission that depth doesnt exist or a lack of faith in the try hards only theories opinion
end of day decision been made and good luck to those who are playing - maybe winning isnt everthing to these guys from other clubs they just want to play and represent their clubs with pride even the not up to scratch clubs

isnt it going to u21 for the winter season anyway? so really, this will just mean when winter comes around, they just start with a fresh team, instead of all the forefitting etc everyone has been talking about and then having the top age players come down and push half the team to div 2 come winter

cc and anon,

Again, what do you do about then forfieting the div 2 games when there are not enough players to fill 2 teams for 5 weeks while multiple players are away or playing seniors??

And other clubs are doing the same thing, so not sure why it is Sturt who are making BSA buckle. Norwood don't have a div 1 U10 girls team, are BSA buckling to them? Eastern and Centrals don't have any U10 teams at all, are BSA buckling to them?

Having a look through the draw and notice a team from Wilunga in the U18 Div 3 girls. Anyone know the story/details behind this ?

anon,

that would be why they have 6 players away on SASI tour and cannot field a team during december.

If 6 girls from sturt are going then there is something wrong with the way sasi is being run

I think that you will find that the only player of the 6 that didn't play U12's for Sturt has only ever played for Sturt in SA as he moved to Adelaide 2 years ago. Don't see how recruiting has helped.

I hope this doesn't degenerate too much further into a Sturt bashing exercise!

There are always poaching claims and smears against the club. The tall poppy syndrome is well and truly alive.

Looking at the team lists from Winter 2008 to this season, I can see a set of twins who have moved to Sturt from a smaller club. Were they poached? Probably not, they probably just wanted to play Div1.

Rather than botch about what Sturt are doing right, bring other clubs up to that standard.

Another suss decision by the SASI leadership who are very selective on who they decide can go and who misses out.
