Eltham Tournament '09

Anyone going across for the Eltham Tournament? Who are the good Vic teams in the age groups, and what are SA's best chances to claim a title?

Dandenong, Melbourne Tigers, Eltham, Sandringham Sabres, Knox are strong in most boys divisions - Girls I dont know but I would say these clubs would also field strong girls teams.

Don't know much about girls, but here is who I reckon are the top 4 boys teams early on in the Vic Comp. Please be aware that grading for the 2009 season has only just started (1 round) and it is very early days.

Boys
U12: Knox, Blackburn, Bulleen, Eltham
U14: Bulleen, Knox, Frankston, Melbourne
U16: Knox, Werribee, Keilor, Eltham
U18: Dandenong, Melbourne, Sandringham, Nunawading
U20: Nunawading, Dandenong, Sandringham, Knox

Apart from the Easter Classic and Nunawading Tourney, the Eltham Tournament is arguably the best one going around - certainly the biggest!

Do the Goulash Grufnuts still enter a team? I remember them wearing Harlem Globe Trotters uniforms. Also won the U/20's a couple of years in a row a few years back.

I knew of a few of the good coaches at U16's but not to that extent.

Former Opals and Chinese National Coach Tom Maher is also coaching the Bulleen U12 boys

The Keilor coach isn't Lucas, and i don't think Allan is coaching the DV team either. Not sure on who is doing either of those squads.

I know DV played Keilor a few weeks back, DV won by about 8. Young guy coaches the DV team, has been around a while however. Not sure who the Keilor Head coach is.

DV ??? How are they able to beat a top ranked Keilor team, They were not great at 14's what has happened ? Was it a practise game ? Did Keilor care ? Didn't Keilor beat W'Bee as well who are one of the favourites ?

Was a practice game but both teams appeared to take it seriously. DV were good, and well organized.. Keilor had some good moments, but wern't allowed to break free of some good D. Keilor have been getting wins comfortably all the way through to this point, may have taken the game for granted.

Bulleen under 12s will win it quite comfortably i believe, tom maher has them playin an uptempo extremely aggresive stile of game which most under 12 teams arent expecting. Be very aware of them.

Sandringham will be too strong in the under 20s competition this season but they will fight it out with a strong Nunawading team.

Girls side of the tournament will be dominated by Bulleen, mainly in younger age groups though i guess.

Eltham tournament clearly the best going around, Easter classic is great but too many games against other Victorian teams rather than playin strong SA teams. NUnawading tournament is nothing as it runs at the same time as the national classic over that weekend.

Watch out for the caroline chisholm chargers gentlemen im telling you these guys are for real. They have alot of heart and can play dont but i understand if you guys dont take em seriously, its your funeral lol.

u/18 comp should be greatDandenong have loads of talent, Kilysth watch out for Sinclair and Flink, Werribee Jordan is a match winner, Melb tigers had a excellent gerading winning all games easily.
