Honouring Brett Maher After retirement

As a lot of you know the 36ers honoured Mark Davis with a big statue of his head, Now its gotta me thinkin what will they do to Honour not only the greatest player the club has seen, but possibly the top 10 NBL all time???

Now i had an idea to possibly name a stand after him, ie; Instead of having "North" have "Brett Maher" stand sorta like they do at Adelaide oval. I know the stadium doesnt belong to club but still would be a great honour!

Since they made a busk of Mark maybe they should make a full body one of Brett and stick it on the paved area out the front of the dome to look over the joint Colonel Light style.

Or perhaps the could just put the money towards ensuring everyone is paid on time.

Coady,
great idea. They have the Rachel Sporn bar, why not a Brett Maher stand - wouldn't cost anything Shirley!

They should do a statue of him outside of the Dome, much like Jordan has outside the United Centre in Chicago.

Except instead of having him flying through the air for a dunk, have him falling away into his trade mark jump-shot.

Haha

No statue outside - they are just pigeon targets

Stand or statue sound good to me.

Brett Maher court- perfect. Retire his number, and let it stay in retirement! Brett Maher award of some kind for the best and fairest or best team man award etc.

Don't follow basketball all that well, have they had a testimonial game for him?

As in the AFl when great players retire, it would be fiiting for both sides to form a guard of honour for him when he comes out to the court on his last game or after the game. That's my thoughts anyway!

ShaneD, you'll probably find that the stadium needs to generate income by way of naming rights which is fine for the stadium, but I would be calling the centre court as Maher Court and have it signed on all 4 sides.
