Ballinger wins NBL Player of the Week

Adelaide 36ers import Adam Ballinger has been named as the National Basketball League's (NBL) Player of the Week for Round 19 after helping his team score a vital victory over the Gold Coast Blaze that has strengthened his team's playoff hopes.

Ballinger was dominant in the first half of his side's home game against the Blaze, scoring 21 points on his way to a game and round-high 28-point haul for the match. The 205cm redhead also pulled down 12 rebounds and added one block and one steal.
Runner-up was Luke Whitehead:
Gold Coast Blaze import Luke Whitehead was another leading contender for the weekly honours in Round 19. Whitehead averaged 18.5 points, 17.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists for the Blaze but was still unable to help his team earn a win from two outings.
And here are the honourable mentions:
Other contenders for the Player of the Week included Ian Crosswhite (Cairns), Rosell Ellis (Townsville), Cameron Tragardh (Wollongong), Kirk Penney (New Zealand), Kelvin Robertson (Townsville), Jason Smith (Sydney), David Gruber (Sydney), Kavossy Franklin (Wollongong), Justin Bowen (Gold Coast), CJ Bruton (New Zealand), Chris Anstey (Melbourne), Ebi Ere (Melbourne), Alex Loughton (Perth), Brett Maher (Adelaide), Glen Saville (Wollongong), Luke Schenscher (Adelaide), Darnell Hinson (Perth) and Corey Williams (Townsville).
Adelaide now have won 5 of the 19 POTW awards this season, the most by any club. Breakers have won 4, while the Dragons, Tigers and Taipans have all won 2.

Not to mention the next African-American player to win POTW being referred to as a x-cm blackhead.

They can't write an article about Schensch or Balls without dropping the "redhead" mention in there - gets a bit boring.

Gaze rates Adam as the best Quote " Pound for pound player in the league" He really is a talented player.

It's more than boring, it's verging on hairist: since when does hair colour relate to basketball ability?

If hair is so important, why not mention the style as well as colour:

The 205cm redhead with a short back and sides...
Or
Schenscher, the 216cm redhead with the fetching ponytail yet rugged beard...
Or this, which would have been great to see circa 1992:
Known as The General, the 183cm brownhead with the epic combover...

it's because most Ninja/Daywalker's are retarded in some way so when one does something positive or slightly normal they need public praise (it goes a long way to help stopping them nutting out and killing people)
