Young Victorians featuring in NBL Finals

With two Vic teams playing off in the NBL finals series it is interesting to note the lack of talented young Victorians in their teams. Dragons have Worthington (WA), Ingles (SA) Gibson (Tas). Melb have Daniel Johnson (WA) thenm throw in imports, veterans and there are not many minutes left.

Where are all the players from this vintage who won National Champs?

You shouldn't be looking for the NBL Finals to be a showcase for great young Australian talent. It's not a young league. The best kids are in Colleges and the best from there go elsewhere.

As for Victoria...2 years ago at Under 18s in Launceston they won a title with Leigh Kitchin, Steve Woodburn, Billy Thomas, Jack Watts made the team but got injured, Jack-Railton Woodcock, James Orr and Ryan Cunningham. This year they came 3rd - high turnover of players - most have left the sport.

Define young.

Greer is the youngest, the rest are 25 turning 26 and above.

As Victorians, Croswell, Corletto, Herbert and Greer are nowhere near Australian selection, Barlow is/was a late bloomer, Carter was an identified gun at a young age, Kendall is a fringe Boomer.

There's hardly a gun 19 or 20 year old out there, logging significant minutes.

It will be a great series, but it's still an old(er) man's game.

Kitchin, Woodburn, Thomas and Watts all went to footy, Railton-Woodcock 2nd Division college America, Cunningham still playing bball and Orr Dragons Development Player.

Victoria won the under 20's last year with four bottom aged players.

No team was going to beat QLD with seven current AIS scholarship holders and one former scholarship holder from last year.

Greer is also 25 turning 26. He played Vic Metro with Barlow; Carter only a few months younger that those 2. As Carpenter says, most kids are at College until they are about 22 or 23.

Sturt is in the Tigers team he was part of a VIC under 20 team that won a national championship according to his profile. he's only 22.

Although not getting much court time in a stacked Tigers team
