Basketball Victoria Website

Was trying to check out details of the world Record attempt for dribbling balls in Melbourne tomorrow and identified the Basketball Victoria website has been "parked"!

Link: http://linky.com.au/h3ldq

Looks like someone forgot to pay the bill!

Also, the new BA CEO is set to be announced tomorrow. Who will it be? Seamus?

Is this the first task of the newBL?
Received an email today promoting the basketball dribble attempt and all was good, great idea get the word spread and I'm pressuming this was sent to everyone on the NBL/BA mailing list database (one would imagine quite a few people) but it couldn't be done without a mistake that the fans continuously point out is the reason why they need to be more in touch with the sport (you need a mix of business heads and basketball heads).

The World Record attempt will feature members of the Australian Boomers and Opals national teams including Joe Ingles (South Dragons), Luke Schenscher (Adelaide 36ers), Cayla Francis (Adelaide 36rs), Emma Randall (Stade Clermontois - France), Abby Bishop (Canberra Capitals) and Opals head coach Carrie Graf (Canberra Capitals).

"The Basketball Australia world record attempt still needs plenty more people to be successful, with Guinness World Records confirming that they have recently recognised a new mark of 3,054 people"

"927 people have already signed up for Tuesday's World Record dribbling attempt in Melbourne's Federation Square."

One EPIC FAIL coming right up!

At least they discovered the true record number. It would've been even more embarrassing if they exceeded the 1289 believing it to be a world record, only to later discover the error.

Either way, it's embarrassing. They won't go anywhere near the current record of over 3000.

RJD - yeah, slightly better than finding out afterwards, but still awkward. Can you imagine being in the office when they discovered that?

Luck rarely seems to fall the way of basketball. But then again, they say that the harder one works, the luckier one gets.

its a media event, if they get 1000+ bouncing balls at fed square, thats a media win.

how is that a new spin? of course its a media event what did you think it was - for the self satisfaction of getting thousands of people bouncing a ball or for the joy of breaking the record.

they are doing it around the brand launch, and they are doing it in fed Square.... it was only ever meant to be a media event, otherwise they would have held it at kilsyth and just got all the kids in and a guy from Guiness World Records and not invited any media.

If they get 10+, that's an NBL win.

I guess the reason for the site being down has been revealed...they have a new one!

www.basketballvictoria.com.au

The new one has quite a few "kinks" and design errors that need ironing out - and hopefully quickly as it ruins the look and feel.
