Iverson dominates Magic for 60

AI today dropped 60 points on Orlando, going 17 of 36 from the field, 2 of 5 from outside, and hitting 24 of 27 from the charity stripe.

It took him 42 minutes, and he added 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals and a block. 1 foul and 3 turnovers wrapped up his account.

That's his career best and the top mark for the league this season.

The only 76ERS scoring performances to beat that 60 points were all by Wilt Chamberlain (62, 65 and 68 in 1966 and 1967).

On the home crowd's reaction: "That's when you get the goose bumps," Iverson said. "You honestly don't really feel it when the shots are going down. You don't ever get the goose bumps until the fans start to appreciate what you're doing out there."

Iverson is the best guard in the game, no question. For all the haters, whos says he is selfish hes getting 7 assists a game aswell. Not to mention leading the league in points with 29 pts per game. Hes a complete player, offensively and defensively and works harder than anybody in the league.

He's making it hard for the critics isn't he!

Another tidbit about the 61/62 season, after averaging 50.4 pts amd 25.7 rebs a game the NBA didnt feel he deserved the season MVP and as a result Bill Russell won the ilustrious award. Wilt was again snubed that very season when he was beaten by Walt Bellamy for the starting roll in the east at Center. The NBA sure didnt care for Wilt did they!

i don't like iverson
notice he still shot under 50%?

i'd only consider scoring that much an achievment if he actually shot at a high percentage.
And this was considered a great game from him.

Dave,
Don't forget Iversons foul shots. Being able to get to the line is important. 24 from 27 is effectively like making 12 from 13 or 14 field goals. A good measure of a players shooting performance is how many shots you take to get your points. Taking only 36 shots to get 60 points is awesome. It is like taking 12 shots to get 20 - no one would complain about that now would they?

and 24 shots for 38 points yesterday (again shooting at under 50%)
his teammate Marc Jackson shot 10 from 14 for his 22 points/
Even though Jackson shot a way better percentage he scored 1.57 points per shot while Iverson scored 1.58 points per shot.
(Yes I'm bored!)
