BA World Record attempt was worthless

How pathetic is Basketball Australia at the moment!! Organising a worthless and stupid world record attempt involving people bouncing basketballs at oncce! This is not going to improve the game at all, they should be putting all their time and resources into improving the game accross the country, not spending all this energy trying to get a worthless world record!!

Was not about improving the game as you said - it was a large event that they used to create interest in the sport. They used it as a day to launch the new face of basketball in Australia which will improve the game across the country

Sure it was pretty optimistic and I'm sure it fell on its arse, but it looks like there are still positives to take from the day if Sengstock proves to be the right choice.

agreed, any publicity (in most cases) is better than none

Just getting the media's attention and having people talk about basketball and reading about it is soemthing...

Was worth a shot. Pity the poor weather in Melbourne would have impacted on the turn up. Good idea and worth a try.

As i've said before, putting it on after work AND NOT at the same time as the NCAA final would've been better.

At least you can't blame sengstock for THIS doozy.

I would suggest it was put on during the day so that Kids could attend on the school holidays. You would have got far less at night than during the day. As far as putting it on against the NCAA final i think kids dont give a toss about college ball.

Bullshit it was worthless.

There was a decent turnout & plenty of media there. Watch Sunrise tomorrow.

brett ... put it on after work and reduce any chance of getting a run on that nights news (and tomorrow night is too late) as well as reduce your chances of print media properly resourcing the coverage....

Was a weekend slot impossible? It's good they did it during school holidays, but wouldn't overlapping it with a weekend yield the greatest turnout? Celebrate "everyone's game", unless you have a job. ;)

Having said that, an impressive turnout in what was looking like bad weather in the late morning. The sun came out on queue.

The Spirit struggled to get that many to their home games.

Maybe the spirit should have a different world record attempt at each home game - starting with world record crowd for a basketball team with the nickname spirit.
