I question those with blisters. Unless they get treatment, how are they gonna guard ANYONE?

Gotta love the sydney red eye!

To elaborate further on the post by goal tending...

Mavs Men may not win it again, but even without Holmes, barring injury to Davis, these guys can still make the finals and at that time of year, anything can happen.

Their Women will finish in the bottom 2 and may not even win a game.

I am excited for the Centrals men. This year they have the combination of some older good players to add to their exciting young group.

Not as excited for the womens program but again, a combo of young and old.

F/ville will be well in the 5 in both men and women. Not only Dix but Mottram and Farman coming in not to mention the rumours of Newley :(((( The women, Newbold and Mahoney bolster an already GF team. This might have worried North until Jessica Bibby signed on the dotted line making it even more a case of the 'also rans'.

Good luck to all teams and umpires this season.

I heard that Bibby is passing up the opportunity to play for North Adelaide, and is going to America instead. That was the latest I've heard.

I think it will be North vs Forestville in both the mens and womens grand finals.

Eastern, Norwood and Sturt will round out the mens 5. Southern, Centrals just outside.

Think the mens will be a very close season this year.

Considering Jacob has played all NBL season with an ankle injury, I would be VERY surprised to see him play a full ABL season.

I agree with JR about the Forestville women with the addition of Newbold/Mahoney. They have to be GF contenders.

T.Two.Timer can you elaborate on the blisters joke?

Jacob will not be playing for mavericks and if anything will be looking to play OS when his ankle is better.

That will change the look of the Mavs. I wonder if they have anyone capable of filling Jacobs' shoes!

Not only Newbold and Mahoney added to the eagles list, but throw in Narell Lindsey and Belinda Tredwell and does anyone know if Flanagen is coming back from Townsville to be an Eagle this year or not....whether she does or doesn't, i think they will be hard to beat. Looking forward to the Rockets Eagles match ups.

And what about R Sporn...anyone heard if she is playing anywhere this year.

Wouldn't Brad Hill go back to the AIS after this NBL season....extra coaching and a chance to play in the SEABL with the AIS team.

if Flanagan doesn't return will f/ville women have ANY juniors playing in their senior team? Maybe they could field a second WNBL team playing out of the lighthouse - oh wait a minute.....

No Bibby at North then I would now have to say Forestville have a slight edge. Ng to Sturt then you would have to say Sturt now in the mens.

Interesting move by Ng. Interesting that the same move didn't work out for Wilkey... perhaps the Dr. can make a better fist of it.

If i were Dave Sheppard i would be mighty pissed off... looks like another year of ridin the bench for Vaughno... what a shame :P

It is way to early to be stating who's going to take the title etc.

Darren doesn't play D. I don't believe Sturt is going to be in the GF but I think they will make the finals.

Mens Hypothetical.
Woodville play average for the first seven or so games. Sitting in the middle of the ladder. No injuries a well oiled machine. Then they get an import for the next four months, who is able to help them get to the finals. (could happen)

Sturt along with the addition of Oscar and Darren, a strong looking unit. Darren bulks up and learns how to defend but does an ankle in round two that puts him out for two months. There is four more injuries in the round three clash with Norwood. Ankle sprain, shoulder dislocation, and fractured cheeckbone. Now the team is dessimated.

Forestville is a force to be reckoned with. Dix is offered another promotion within the bank (which bank I hear you ask?) which takes him to NSW. Even with a couple of people out injured they are strong ala 2004.

Anything can happen in 18 rounds.

That's my little novel.

Of course the Woodville import thing is just that - a hypothetical.

"Import? What import?" ;)

I believe the North women will crumble this season.. put phillips back in the side and it's no longer the rockets, its the phillip show as its all about her as far as she is concerned.. "NO I IN TEAM" ?!?!

i think that the centrals ABA women have a very strong team this yr. they have some outstanding young players. Who i personaly don't think get enough court time, especially the two girls who i think will make it far in professional basketball. #20 and #21. These two young players show that they belong in the side, when they get on the court, which isn't alot of the time.

i also think that the team should have a better warm up and the training not going so late. The young players of the team who still haveto go to school, end up getting home very late. This can not be good for there school work. the warm-up is dispiciple.

i concur with bob's statement the girls are excellent players and hav a lot of raw talent. i also think that they are very pretty, and could also take up modeling.
