Boomers program for 2009 announced

Some good opponents here. As Brett Brown said:

"Argentina is ranked number 1 in the world, China is ranked tenth, Angola is twelfth, Turkey is thirteenth, New Zealand is fourteenth and Brazil is sixteenth; that's six nations in the top twenty that we'll face."
June 19-23 - Camp 1 Australian Institute of Sport, Canberra ACT (Combined with Australian Men's University Games Team)
June 26- Jul 1 - Tour to China (AUS v CHN: 2 games)
July 21-27 - Camp 2 Sydney, NSW
July 30Aug 4 - Tournament in Argentina (AUS v Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina: 3 games)
Aug 6-10 - Tournament in Brazil (AUS v Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina: 3 games)
Aug 18-22 - Camp 3 Sydney, NSW
Aug 22 - Basketball Australia Hall of Fame Dinner, Sydney
Aug 23 - FIBA Oceania Championship Game 1, AUS v NZ, Sydney
Aug 25 - FIBA Oceania Championship Game 2, AUS v NZ, Wellington
Aug 28-31 - Stankovic Cup, Kunshan, China (AUS v Turkey, Angola, China: 4 games)
If they could get in a Euro tour in the next year or two, that would enable the team to test themselves against a few of the other decent teams.

Just a matter of which players will be suiting for the Boomers.

Why don't BA reward a town that wants to be in the new league with a Boomers game?

Yeah according to the BA site it still says Melb.
So is it Syd or Melb and when do tickets go on sale for the game for those of us that will be flying in for the game whether it's Syd or Melb regardless?

At least the Boomers now have a schedule. Would have been good to see them play Summer League but we don;t want to send our second stringers there and never get invited back again!

Also identified that Brazil is likely to have Leandro Barbosa playing after he committed to their National program. FIBA link: http://linky.com.au/wmtwx

Um wasn't the big plan to have the Boomers play more games in Australia? (like the Socceroos)

I see us playing in China, Argentina, Brazil, China and NZ. Oh with one game against NZ in Aust. WTF??

Sure the tour games will help our players develop, but playing tournaments in these countries won't help with the profile of BBall in Aust at all!

Playing in the US summer league would (a bit). Even better, get China and Brazil here.

No point wasting time in the low quality sumer leagues - they should be going to Europe.
