Hawks want Sav, Tragardh; Petrie likely gone

Glen Saville is close to re-signing for the 2009-10 NBL season, but the Wollongong Hawks are almost certain to lose hard-nosed forward Anthony Petrie.

Also on the list [of targets] are long-serving captain Mat Campbell, centres Cam Tragardh and Larry Davidson, forward Dan Jackson, New Zealand Tall Blacks guard Lindsay Tait and the versatile Petrie.

But Petrie - one of Wollongong's best players last season - has received lucrative offers from rival clubs and is next to no chance of returning.

Still recovering from shoulder surgery, the former Tenterfield junior is expected to join Gold Coast, although Perth have also made a tempting offer.

If Gold Coast can grab Petrie, their roster is really starting to take shape.

He is a guy i dont know alot about. He seems headed to the blaze. WHat role would he play, small forward etc?? and would he be starting 5 over Vukona?

Please explain?

SF/PF. Probably interchangeable with Vukona. They would share time between SF/PF and you'd guess there would be one more recruit capable of playing 25 MPG or more in one of those positions.

yeah true, blaze are putting together a decent roster. if they can keep harvey and sign an ere type player, we may snare a grand final spot.

other usual types like the tigers will be up there also.

Blaze need another good 3-4 man as an import. Surprising they knocked Whitehead back.

Which makes sense as he has good knowledge on them and has prbably helped with development too.

despite Cowans letter to his fans, i think this year will be a decent competition...
