Goodbye and Good Luck Jack Haines

scanned the forum, couldn't fine where anyone else had posted, but an article in the local paper about District Umpire Jack Haines retiring after 53 years.

Jack was always a gentleman both on and off the court and I'm sure on behalf of all players, thanks for all you have done for District Basketball in SA

Enjoy your retirement

Well done Jack, taught me alot about the game. I still remember going to Bowden(?) Stadium (no longer there). Gave me an appreciation for what good umpires could do for the game.

All the best in a well deserved retirement Jack.
A true gentleman of the game.
Thanks for all the tips when I was coming up through the refereeing ranks.
Will still see you around the courts sometime.

In the article he mentioned riding to Grange to play basketball. I lived there and for the life of me I can't think where that would be. Any ideas anyone?

Best wishes to Jack. He umpired me many times through Church Basketball.

A great referee and an even greater person off the court.

The Haines' are a true basketball family with Phil refereeing, his wife I saw many times on the door at church basketball and their daughter also a former 36ers cheerleader.

Good luck Jack for your future endevours.

From all those at the former Taperoo Church Basketbal Club!
