Live audio now: Boomers vs Argentina, July 30

I think the game is on now. Apparently live streaming radio is somewhere at this site?

http://www.cabb.com.ar/stream.asp

Can anyone get that working? It's throwing an error for me. Now it's working! Get your Spanish going!

BTW, for those interested, you can follow the Boomers on Twitter.

They're either introducing the teams or returning from half-time? Think the game was meant to start an hour ago unless there are multiple timezones in Argentina.

Tip-off was 7.30. Time in Bahia Blanca is currently 8:56pm Thursday.

Performance of We Are The Champions - pre-game entertainment? Pronouncing a win already?!

Have heard them mention 'Australia', Scola, Sanchez (veteran point guard), but haven't picked out a single Australian player name yet?

Anyone else listening? Perfect stream - no buffering at all.

Edit: I hear whistles. Perhaps the game is about to start?

Game underway. Just heard Gibson mentioned. Holy crap they talk quickly. Ingles just hit a three?

This guy is like the Argentinian John Casey. Feel like I'm at Oakbank.

Ingles with another three.

Crowd disputing something. Jawai involved?

Gibson mentioned and then crowd jeering - must be shooting foul shots. Either that or he's in foul trouble and off because Dellavedova is in.

Ingles with another three, I think!

Barlow and Baynes mentioned - at least Barlow would have started, not sure about Baynes?

Argentina hits a three.

Wait a minute, this might be the second half - swear they said a score was in the 60s or 70s?

seems like ingles gets mentioned every 20 seconds and has hit some threes?

I think I heard them talking about the NBL and that players don't get paid much and talking about that it's a physical league??

So Ingles top-scored for the Aussies with 22 points, with next best Jawai with 14. Dellavedova had a good debut by the looks of things, with 9 points.

I presume the names got translated there too, unless Australia has a new player called "English". :)

It will be interesting to see the shooting percentages. Jenglish's 22 looks impressive.

78 is a decent score in the international game. It'll always be difficult to beat a team when you let them score 98.

Good work from Jose 'Jojo' English. Nice to see him regain some shooting form. Looks like Nate did alright too, and that Della made an impact on the scoreboard.

Disappointing to hear "Brett the Browns" team scored "only by means of the route of three points". The more things change the more they stay the same... sigh.

No surprises that we went down by 20 though. Gonna be a steep learning curve for a lot of our guys.

Won the second half at least.

A slow start derailed any hope that Australia's men’s basketball team might topple Athens gold medallists Argentina in Bahia Blanca today.

Trailing by 30 points in the first half the Boomers reduced the margin to 14 points in the final quarter on the back of three consecutive three-point shots by Joe Ingles before time expired with the final score, 98-78.

Ingles top scored for Australia with 22 points while Dallas Mavericks forward Nathan Jawai toiled hard for 19 points and 8 rebounds in an Australian team featuring five players on debut.

Australian U19 Emus captain Matthew Dellavedova was the most impressive of the Boomers debutantes with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals in a back-up role to starting point guard Adam Gibson.

"We got jumped at the start and it felt like Argentina didn’t miss a shot in the first half," Boomers head coach Brett Brown said.

“Individual containment wasn’t a problem but as a team, defensively we were poor.

“We had no pace, no rhythm, our timing was off and there was uncertainty, but you do expect that to some extent with a new group.

“But in a hostile stadium against a multiple medal winning country we didn’t roll over, there were no heads down, and our guys deserve credit for that showing of spirit.

“We have a long road to get to where we want to go, but we are improving and we’ll be ready for New Zealand on August 23rd.”

The Boomers are using the six game tour of Argentina and Brazil to prepare for the 2009 FIBA Oceania Championship in Sydney (August 23) and Wellington (August 25), where 2010 FIBA World Championship seeding is on the line.

James, I'm guessing that the translation LC posted was from one of those 'babel fish' sites. Those sites just use a program to do a literal word for word translation, so there is no human input. Hence Ingles is translated literally to English.

I like the literal translation though - much more entertaining than your standard match report!

Nice to get a few more stat Isaac - good to see Jawai solid on the boards and Della had an excellent debut to pull in 5 rebs and come up with 3 steals on top of his scoring. Positive signs from him. Does anyone know if he is a 'pure point' or more of a combo guard?

Delly is a combo guard. He can score heavily if required.

And yes, the translation was taken from Babelfish!

I watched the game on justin.tv so more then likely they'll show the next games on there as well.

It was obvious the team wasnt used to playing with each other, alot of the points from the first half for the Arg team came from open 3's, and they didnt seem to miss at all.
