Possible Changes To This Forum

Isaac, this could be a reflection of age and diminishing sight but I have picked up a few things with this new format that may warrant changing. Firstly the number of replies box on the left hand side of the topic heading is barely legible with the white number in a light blue box. I am finding that I have to highlight it to see if there is indeed a number in there. Also the anonymous posts are printed in a very light colour making it difficult to read without heavily focusing. I thought the old format was better where you had the choice of reading them or not. The rest is all good and thanks for all the work you put into it.

What was the reason behind design change anyway Isaac? LIked the old one better but not really complaining cause still a great site.

Reason for the change is that I wanted room to expand a bit and that meant shuffling things around, plus getting it into a better database format makes it easier to work with. Of course, that's fantasyland and the reality is that I have a million other things to do instead and it was only the utter failure of the database that forced me to get the revamp into a "at least it works" state.

I'll look at improving the contrast on those two things EC - thanks for the feedback as it's not something that's easy to spot unless you experience the same sight impairments I guess.

I like the new system for anonymous posters - mostly because I could never be bothered logging in and had to click on them all before :P

And yeah, I can see the number of replies pretty clearly.

I think that the changes have been good, and the introduction of the full length blue/grey side bars has made the site much easier to read.

One thing that I picked up on another forum I use is that if you are logged in and visit the site, read a particular topic, go away for an hour or so and go back to the site it will highlight the topics which have a new post since you last logged on or simply stay a dull colour if nothing new has been posted since you were last on. Makes it a lot easier to see if someone has responded to a post of yours or if someone has commented on a topic that you are interested in. Unfortunately on here you need to find the post you last looked at by trolling through them all over again. Just a thought.

Those Evony ads get pretty boring, but they ain't porn - seems to be some medieval game. I have added something that should have them blocked within a few hours - let's hope it works.

Hiya Isaac, like all the changes.

Just wondered if it is possible to have a number of reads/coments shown alongside the topic title, that way we can see if it has had any replies since the last time i read it before opening.

Doesn't currently track the last time you hit a particular thread, but could one day introduce that. If it was based on a cooke (last login or general visit) or might assume you've viewed all topics since your last visit. Will keep it in mind. Now is not the time though - ultra busy.
