How to handle club trial announcements, etc

Many of you will be aware of the various announcements clubs need to make each year - right now, we have a lot of trial dates being announced on the forum.

I'd like to keep these on the forum in some capacity (keeps people aware, might attract 36er-fan-families to start their kids at a local club, etc) but is there a better way than as a typical forum topic?

A simple list in a sidebar somewhere?

Are there other regular dates that clubs would like to announce, where all are on level footing? e.g., something that all clubs do at roughly the same time of year?

Good idea...a side-menu options call ed "Club Information" perhaps?

Not a heap of space in that right sidebar though - already have the Recent Posts (important) and text ads (also important as their contributions support the site). But I don't think there'd be a better spot for them.

What about a drop-down menu for the forum categories instead - therefore creating much needed room?

Many might not realise they're there in that case. And the categories are going to be useful to more people than trial announcements.

Is there any way to add them to the left side bar, but change the font colour so you can make it stand out...
