Like most leassons in life, I learnt about it via Xbox 360 and NBA 2K10.

It's become more prominent since the NBA allowed zone defenses a few years back. It just means that you can't stand in the key as a defensive player for three seconds without manning up an offensive opponent. It's basically to make sure that no defensive players camp inside the key and defend the rim like goalies.

I learnt that if you got rid of the rule Emeka Okafor would get 14 blocks per game :D
