Firepower boss claiming illness to delay court

Ahh, the old "rip people off of $100m and then suddenly develop a heart condition that prevents you from flying to a court appearance" ruse. Sick and tired of that. Since when did Tim Johnston ever have a heart?

Firepower boss delusional, court told

Firepower boss Tim Johnston cannot travel to Perth because he is delusional and at risk of complete heart failure, his medical practitioner says.
But my favourite bit:
Dr Mackay told the court that Mr Johnston had come to him complaining of cardiac irregularity and minor delusional thoughts.

"He was overweight, he was short of breath, he was not sleeping and he displayed minor delusional thoughts," Dr Mackay said.

"He said he thought people were following him, were after him and trying to harm him."
He ripped $100m out of people. There probably are people following and trying to harm him. Are they wearing yellow or purple singlets by any chance?

Arrest him, send a couple of ex-Sydney Kings to escort him via car (great roadtrip!) since he doesn't want to fly, and then deal with him in court. Bastard.

Isaac I have to agree with you. I still cannot believe that the previous NBL bosses endorsed Johnston and allowed him to own the Kings even after all the information came out about how much of a shonk he was and that Firepower was a con. Hopefully, if the Kings (probably won't happen because of the lack of support for basketball in Sydney) and even the Bullets are resurrected that con men like Johnston are not permitted to own or be involved in teams. Having lived in Canberra it is my hope that the Cannons can return to the NBL someday, but again this will need the support of basketball fans in the ACT. When the Cannons were winning it was a great but when they started to lose the fickleness of fans caused their demise (along with high cost and highly paid coaches).

Apprantly he actually flew to see he's GP about getting a Medical slip about him not being able to fly. Yes, as confusing as that sounds, it's true. LOL.

Wasn't just the NBL bosses who endorsed him - Austrade under Howard gave them grants and introductions to world businesses. Just stupid. It was clear from the first times we posted about it here that it was a ponzi hidden behind the dodgy pill.

The guy in charge of Austrade left and went to work for Firepower. The Crows and the like invested in Firepower. Goorjian rang him up to ask why his pay chq. bounced. " Aw I'm in Russia, been to China, lined up games here for the Kings and investments are pooring in. We're gonna be rich!"
'Aw OK then' - Goorjian said.
Many other similar stories, of course.

That was the first thing I thought when I read this article yesterday - there would definitely be people wanting to harm him!

His doctor said he's delusional.
Damn f**king straight he is, and it appears he has been for quite some time- not just around the days of his court appearances!
Delusional.. what an understatement!!!
