Longley bids on eBay, names shrimp after daughter

Friend of mine passed on this amusing story from Wired. Essentially:

- research student discovers new shrimp species off the WA coast
- auctions right to name it on eBay with proceeds going to the Australian Marine Conservation Society
- publisher of Shrimp News International (gold!) bids $2k
- Luc Longley trumps that with $2,900 bid
- Longley names the shrimp Lebbeus clarehanna after his 15-year-old daughter, Clare Hanna Longley.

Full story at Wired.com including a photo of the shrimp which is at least somewhat reminiscent of Longley with that hint of red.

Haha, I thought this happened quite some time ago, remeber seeing something quite tacky on the tv about it.

Still pretty funny stuff.
