NZ: Pero to coach Saints, Rickert signs with Heat

Some NZ NBL news this week with word that Pero Cameron will be coaching Wellington and Rick Rickert has signed to play under Breakers assistant Judd Flavell at Harbour Heat.

This is likely part of Rickert's plans to naturalise as a Kiwi. Presumably he has to sit tight in the country for a certain period as Rychart and Ballinger have done in Australia? Big signing for Harbour regardless.

Rickert won't have to wait as long as Ballinger and Rychart. The Department of Internal Affairs in NZ is not as strict as Australia's equivilent and they will grant it on special conditions. Before the AYOF, I was awarded NZ citizenship on a special condition, and the entire process was sped up. The same will happen to Rickert. In NZ we hand out citizenships like its going out of fashion
