Official: Pat Mills called up to Blazers

Great news for Patrick Mills - recalled by the Blazers after two great games in the D-League:

The Portland Trail Blazers recalled guard Patty Mills from the NBA Development League's Idaho Stampede, it was announced today by General Manager Kevin Pritchard.

In two games since being assigned to the Stampede on Dec. 29, Mills posted averages of 30.0 points (21-37 FG, 11-15 3-PT) and 7.5 assists in 34.0 minutes off the bench.

In his first professional game, Mills led all players with 38 points and 12 assists on Jan. 1. The 6-0 guard's put-back with 1.2 seconds remaining gave the Stampede a one-point win on Jan. 3.

Mills, selected by the Trail Blazers with the 55th overall pick in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft, will join the Trail Blazers for Monday's game at the L.A. Clippers.

Great to see yet another Australian set to get their chance in the NBA after Jawai and Andersen joined the ranks this year.

That would be right, just after Portland were on TV a few times over the past fortnight, we have to wait to see Pat in action... Oh well! Congratulations to him and I hope he does well in his debut, and for the rest of his tenure at the club.

His contract is guaranteed for this season & next season. Sure the Blazers can buy him out and release him but he'll be getting a nice chunk of money if that were to happen (the only way I can see them buying him out is if he does another serious injury in the offseason or something).

While there has been four Australians in the NBA at the same time before ('99-Longley, Anstey, Gaze & Paul Rogers) Rogers never played a game with the Raptors so if Mills gets some courtime it will be the first time four aussies have ever played in the NBA at the same time (Bogut, Jawai, Andersen & Mills).
