NBL fines 36ers $1k for ref comment

The 36ers were fined for breaching the NBL rules on Public Criticism of officials after making comments with regards to the refereeing during the game.

$500 of the $1,000 fine has been suspended for 12 months and will only be payable should Ninnis be found guilty of any additional infraction of the NBL Rules or Code of Conduct in that period.
Fair enough. Ninny was pretty clear with his comment.

What a bloody joke. The Tigers have been given slaps on the wirst for some of their behaviour, yet we cop a fine.

The League should show some consistency and not pick and choose which teams they should fine.

That would be fair if Tigers were fined minimum of $3k for their previous naughtiness

The Tigers have been fined this year - what rock have you been living under? A $500 fine isn't much to complain about considering what Ninnis said.

^ Claims they were comments "made to the media," does anyone have a link to it (video / article?)

That's nothing, now they need to work on recouping that money a thousandfold by suing the NBL for not taking action on the sh..house refs that were officiating that game and indeed the quality of officiating all season. It is absolutely appalling. One can argue as much as they like about the responsibility of the team themselves to fail to win games but this was clearly a game that easily could have been won if the refs did their jobs properly in spite of any other influencing factors.

When you get 12 free throws to 24 maybe the NBL should be looking at the Refs

...or maybe even look at a team who settle for outside shots all the time?

Its simply amazing how Adelaide fans, whether it be NBL, AFL or whatever cant handle when their teams lose. Sure the refs may make some blunders but the constant whinging that the refs cost us the game are quite lame.
Now we have EC wanting to sue the NBL for causing the Sixers to lose a game....grow up!

What's your explanation as to why a foul wasn't called in the last 8 seconds when Anstey stumbled over Ballinger and knocked him to the ground. Whinging is not made for the sake of whinging, there are always specific incidents quoted to support it. I don't think any 36ers fan goes around saying the refs are crap and have got it in for the 36ers just generally speaking. There is always a specific situation attached to it.

Mentioned before that refs agreed to show video and explain decisions on youtube, should coaches require/ask. Which is what Ninnis is doing with Mills

and that Smyth - Ninnis are the same or similar.

The NBA fined Boston Celtics forward Rasheed Wallace $35,000 for publicly criticizing game officials following Monday's 99-90 loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

Wallace: "[The officials] don't like tough defense on [Dirk Nowitzki], so, of course, I get a whole lot of [expletive] calls," Wallace said after Monday's game in which foul trouble limited his minutes. "That's how the story goes, I'm not worried about it. We'll see them again."

Makes $1000 seem like peanuts!

Clearly Ninnis only believes officially sanctioned games count as he got one in Darwin during the pre-season tournament the day after Joey Wright got tossed!

I don't see a problem with the fine. Saying the call was "disgraceful" is pretty clearly critical of the referee's decision and takes it further than implying things about lopsided foul counts or rough play being let go. Either way, $500 is a pretty paltry fine.
