Warriors Western Magic Domestic League

Woodville Warriors / Western Magic Junior Domestic League (JDL) Domestic Basketball on weekends coming to St Clair Rec Centre!
Spotted this on Sporting Pulse home page. Wondering how the 2 clubs are getting on - last heard though was no connection but hopeful this get off the ground and rejuvenated westernside ball - St Clair a mecca for basketball back number of years - well maybe a few years distant, so be great to see the return of numbers.
More we can get kids at grass roots the better.

disorientated

I am totally confused what is going on between wood / west / magic.

magic based at st clair after it has been a recruiting ground for woodville and west for years.

st clair used to have the biggest after school competition in adelaide (70+ teams) and good district players emerged through this system.

just read here that wood / magic merger not happening / not desirable - now they are selling a combined comp?

magic was starting by a breakaway group from woodville.

sat with magic parents during state champs presentations and could not help but think in years gone by these kids would have been west / woodville players with a div 1 future. Magic parents had no idea of the system and were happy just to be with their kids and rightly proud of them - listening to them talk "that ..... team has a lot here" and totally new and not orientated to the district structure / power bases. It is important we get the achievers out there playing at the highest level for their skills.

Totally agree with disorientated, somebody pull some strings and get warriors/magic together. What a dream to have stclair as a basketball fortress for western suburbs basketball.

BSA should be removing that, it was put up last year when they hoped Magic and Woodville would get together. They should also issue a statement on Hoops saying there will be no association in any form between the 2 clubs to stop all the speculation.
There are "no strings" to be pulled, it's over.

Western Magic

In reply to the above topic.

There will be no association formed between Western Magic & Woodville for the future. Talks were in progress but have ceased since the beginning of this year. Both clubs agreed it wasn't in their best interest to move forward together as an association.

As stated by #279097 BSA have been asked to remove the item off sporting pulse. It was put up last year when they hoped Magic and Woodville would get together.

There are "no strings" to be pulled, it's over.

Thanks for clarying. Lets still hope St Clair returns to the thriving mecca of basketball it once was.The St Clair carnival at Xmas maintains the tradition at least.

How can two district clubs have the same stadium base and the same recruiting area and realistically think both will survive? BSA have to be the dumbest act in town to allow this fiasco to play out. Pull the pin on Magic or Woodville, its a bad joke.

We have the chance to turn pages over,we can write what we want to write. This time we know we all can stand together,we have the power to be wonderfull believing we can make it better. Were all Magics daughters were all Warriors sons.Use Johnny Farnhams wisdom and go forward as a new club, and kick everybodys arseWOODVILLEMAGIC.

Woodville Magic - where does this come from ? No club exists or will exist under this name - Magic forever and Warriors are just as adamant.Woodville Magic maybe fantasy team name - put it to rest forevermore - TO SOUNDS OF SILENCE

Simple Solution- "merge" with West, retain Magic identity in lowwer grades, and provide pathway/opportunity to higher grades for players who are willing or deserve a highr ranking.

So a club with over 50 years history including an NBL championship should
merge with a social club who have existed for 3 years. Give me a break

If all of us were able to knock the chips off our shoulders and want what's best for our respective clubs there would be a Woodville - Magic merger yesterday. Unfortunately most of us are shallow, small minded individuals that can't see the forest for the trees and are more interested in perpetuating a feud that's long since lost its meaning. Instead of looking at a 2011 season full of potential and one that could see a unified club field 60 teams in an elite district competition, anger and resentment have triumphed and the 2 clubs will continue to struggle to field truly competitive teams across the board. Eventually one or both of these clubs will perish and the verdict will be suicide, all because of leaders afraid to lead . Wake up, shake hands, merge and thrive
