Warrant issued in NZ for Rashad Tucker

Former Waikato Pistons basketballer Rashad Tucker is a wanted man after he failed to appear in court on a drink-driving charge.

And it appears that four days before his court appearance the US-born player left the country to play in Australia.

An arrest warrant for Tucker, 34, was issued yesterday after he didn't turn up in the Hamilton District Court on a charge following an incident in Hamilton last month. Community Magistrate Kathryn Wilson issued the warrant for Tucker's arrest after the matter was initially stood down by a court registrar.

Waikato Basketball chief executive John Davey said Tucker hadn't informed him of the charge before leaving to pursue a second-tier basketball contract in Adelaide on Saturday.

In the article he mentions he has scored a gig with a second tier Adelaide club. Who is the club?

Doubt he will be going back to New Zealand given the no show

The warrant wouldn't stop him going back to NZ. If he goes back, they're not going to hunt around for him. Just means that if he gets pulled over by police, they'll take him in and put him in front of court, unless he does it by his own accord. It's only a drink driving charge, not murder.

I saw him at Mitcham not long after HSH. Maybe he did shore up a gig here some time ago.

It's not a playing contract, it's a coaching gig. He had his first game on the weekend for the U18 Boys Div 2 game on the back court (Crt3). It was Nwd vs Southern. He may or may not have written something on the back wall.
