Game in Melbourne?

I have recently arrived in Melbourne after playing Division 2 basketball in Israel for the last 12 months. I would like to start playing some competitive ball here, so can anyone recommend a club or team or explain how I go about getting a game?

I'm not sure how the divisions rank here, so advice on how that all works would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone knows of some good places to find a scrimmage around the Prahran/SE Melb area, please let me know.

Thanks

Could you drive to Adelaide for a mid-week game?

@. - Thanks, will check them out.

@hanging around - I'm so desperate for a decent game that I would almost contemplate it.

Hawthorn is probably your best bet along with McKinnon, although the Maccabi Association who also play nearby at Hawthorn, Waverley and McKinnon are also worth checking out.

All three clubs have senior teams that play in the Big V competition. Hawthorn have a Div 1 men's team, McKinnon are in Div 2, while Maccabi are in Div 3.

Big V competition is currently in the midst of finals. However teams would already be looking to next season and bolstering their playing lists. I would definitely get in touch with a few teams so you can express your interest and identify when teams have tryouts are would be looking at starting their pre-season.

However the club's mentioned also run other senior teams and competitions, so you should be able to find yourself a game or two to stay in shape.
