Patrick Mills and Portland May be possible

So the word out the NBA is that Rudy Fernandez now does not want to return the NBA and complete his 2 year contract with Portland seeing they have not been able to work out a trade for Rudy. If this does happen then this will leave Portland with a spot on the roster in which Patty can accept the offer sheet put to him by Portland last month.

Things might be looking up for Patty!

Source: Blazers' Fernandez doesn't want to return to NBA

Posted Aug 18 2010 10:12PM

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- The agent for Rudy Fernandez says the Trail Blazers swingman does not want to return to the NBA.

Agent Andy Miller told several media outlets that Fernandez wants to play in Europe and is willing to sit out for the next two seasons, the time left on his contract with the Blazers.

Blazers general manager Rich Cho says the team has looked at several possible deals involving the Spaniard, but none of them have made sense for Portland.

Fernandez, a fan favorite, has been unhappy about his playing time. Known for his 3-point shot and energy off the bench, he averaged 8.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2 assists last season but missed 20 games with injuries.

Miller could not immediately be reached by The Associated Press.

Fernandez is an SG and Mills a PG. Portland have gone in another direction with a full crop of PGs already. This doesn't improve the situation for Mills. He needs a new team with space at PG. He will need to catch on with someone in training camp after impressing at the WCs. It's an important time ahead for him in the next 2 months if he wants to get a gig in the NBA.

My guess is Patty will have a good World Champs and get picked up by someone. It's just a pity that it won't be with someone like Miami!!!

think there was some suggestion a while ago he got an offer sheet but has not signed. I just hope he can land on a team where he at least gets the opportunity to sink or swim.

Spot on on the last post. I hope he moves onto a team that needs a PG where he can get regular minutes.
