Classic Jordan Game on ONE HD Tonight

A reminder that Game 5 of the 1998 Finals between Utah Jazz and Chicago is ONE HD at 7:30 (SA time) tonight. What a way to kick off the Season on the eve of the opener.

It's not the Flu game though?
Still worth watching for the Bulls.

Oooo blastard! Ahhhh

Not the flu game, but still the Big 3.

Still worth watching and better than watching a Bollywood film at the local cinema.

One benefit of having a flakey memory of old NBA games is you don't know the result. Made for quite a finish after all those tactical timeouts. Loved the delay of game to get a glimpse of the Bull's strategy.

still have that whole series on VHS with a much younger bill woods hosting sports tonight before the game started. How much better are these games than what we have now, i really like the extra contact they played through back then.

Watching the game on my Tivo now. Can't wait for tomorrow's season opener tomorrow.

Game seems very different these days. It seemed much more physical back then, and the big guys were much worse (Ostertag, Foster, Longley - all pretty much useless).

Jordan has the best footwork i've ever seen. Kobe's close, but some of the moves Jordan pulls are amazing.

Yeah it's scary watching how good Jordan was even back then considering that was old, past his prime, not much athleticism Jordan too (he was 35 back then).

I like the hard foul's delivered by the Knicks in the 90's especially when they were delivered by Charles Oakley.

Last night's game was good to watch and Isaac described it well.

Not Classic Jordan but Classic Kukoc and Mailman!

How far off retirement was Hornecek at that point? Was looking a little wizened?

Not the best shooting games from Jordan and Pippen.

LOL. My wife saw Hornacek last night and said,"How old is that guy, 50?"
Poor Longley had no hope against Malone in that frame of mind, even Rodman couldn't stop him.
Kukoc was unconsious. How was that three about a metre behind the 3pt line with a hand in his face? I knew the result of the game and even then I was still on the edge of my seat. Awesome stuff.

Hornacek looked like something out of the 60s or something

hahha... my inlaws said the same thing about Hornacek. Was great to walk down memory lane. Got to explain to my family how Hornacek used to wave to his kids by wiping his brow before free throws.

Anyone else notice how much lower the volume of the game was even compared to the already low OneHD volume? I had to crank my TV's speakers up to nearly max to hear what Doug Collins was saying, then flicked over to Top Gear during an ad break and nearly blew my ear drums (and speakers) from the sound difference.

Awesome to Jordan, Pippen, Stockton & Malone in their primes again though.

Dazzler, yeah, noticed that. The other thing was that in some wide shots, it almost looked like the players had been superimposed on the court. At some points, you could've been watching a 2K Sports sim.

Big thanks to One HD though - seems like loads of basketball fans watched it!

Hornacek looked like a 50 year old in every game he played, including his rookie season.

Conversely as a 47 year old, he's looking younger than he ever did while playing.

Drawing a link to a previous thread the fact that Kirk Penney can't get a gig in the NBA shows just how much the attitude to non athletic shooting guards has changed in the NBA.

Hornacek carved out a nice little career doing just what Penney specialises in today. Case of great player, wrong time.

If you saw Stockton and Hornacek walking down the street in 1998 and they said they were the starting backcourt for the team that had the best record in the NBA that year you would laugh your head off!

Oden... I remember Stockton during a TV bit in Barcelona with the Dream Team along those lines... going up to people and saying he was part of the Dream Team & they were like "Yeah? Right!" :)
