Golf****
Yes, i know...who's the moron now. Ha ha ha but really, it's for golf. Not hoops.
Ergo, who cares.
Doesn't matter it's MJ, the greatest basketball player we're ever going to see.

How?
If he brought an NBA side (ala Magic in the early 1990's), i'd agree and would fly anywhere to get tickets. However at this stage, him coming is still a very small chance of happening. Couples said "if the six-time NBA champion could overcome scheduling issues in his role as owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, he would make the trip to add to the United States team's already phenomenal star power." (Herald Sun, 2010). And if he does come to Australia, how will it help the game, he won't have time to host any basketball clinics, see any games (he will be at the crown casino or the golf) and then he'd fly out.
Yes he is sporting royalty and yes he is still the number one sports person on the planet and yes he will help Victorian tourism but it won't help basketball in Australia as it's golf bringing him to the county, not the game of basketball.

I'm sure andrew gaze will get his big head in a photo with him though.
Imagine Drewy around him trying to restrain himself, it would be embarrassing.

Love a good 'called on' story - political parties in opposition do it all the time (royal commissions, governments to release reports, ministers to be sacked, etc etc). Wake me when it actually happens.
Having said that, if I'm Crown Casino, I'm throwing spectacular money at Jordan in a bid to remove his 'scheduling issues' and get him on board for a weekend of full-on gambling, mixed with the bare minimum of time at the golf.
And if they pull it off: you can lock in a photo of MJ with Shane Warne at the pro-am - replete with cigars in mouths and MJ with a 'who the hell is this guy? look on his face - as your Herald Sun front page picture for 16 November 2011.

" I'm glad to be coming to help the US team win in Australia. " He replied.
Pitting Jordan vs Warne - there's frisson in Australia's sports fans and media.
