U/12 Girls-Forestville defeated Sturt
U/12 Boys-Eastern Mavs defeated Sturt
14's on now

u14 b - sturt in a canter
u14 g - forestville comfortably

u16 b - west after being behind
u16 g - sturt after being a long way behind

West won 2 ( U16 and U18 Boys)
Eastern won 2 ( U12 Boys and U18 Girls)
Forestville won 2 ( U12 and U14 Girls)
Sturt won 2 ( U14 Boys and Under 16 Girls)

Sounds pretty even then. State Champs could be a doozey.

Which teams performed well? Were there any upsets? Any huge wins? Any close finishes?

For Flinders 80 and all it was the U18 Strurt coach got teched for constant complaining(polite way of saying he didnt stop)and throwing his clipboard down as his temper frayed .Then his team couldnt get in front of the west winners also the game blew out to a 20 point margin as two players lost control and got fouled out.Four 3point plays nailed em at the end too.
crickets at the stadium blue end...........

eagles win 12s, 14s good result in 16s
sabres good results in 12s,14s,16s and 18s
norwood good results in 16s, 18s
north
west
etc
etc
etc

will be close between eagles and mavs but mavs should be there

DMJ asked if there were any upsets. Mavs U16Div1 Girls were 11-0 for summer season with results against other finalists of 62-31, 64-32 and 43-26 so them not making the GF was a big upset. Such is the nature of knockout finals.

Congrats to Sturt girls. They were the ones to knock out Mavs in semi, and then go on to win GF.

can we expect sturt vs west in 14s/16s/18s to repeat for state champs? who are the threats in these grades? surely there is someone who can get within 40 in the 40 boys? or was that just a really bad game for west? rest of the grades all seems close and hotly contested by multiple teams.

All I can say is things are about to get very interesting in SA Junior basketball... Clubs are finally getting their sh*t together and the competition is starting to get competitive.

Wait until winter, there's a few clubs traditionally at the bottom of the pack that have been bolstering their lineups.

With Southerns mass, Wests and Easterns boom, Woodvilles merger with Torrens Valley and some interesting things happening with the Lions the comp will be tighter.

People keep going on about Forestville but for years now their Girls side is strong and their boys side not so.

Why is this? Do they have different development programs for each one? Or if the development plans are the same is it as good as what people say?

Not trying to stir the pot but I keep hearing how a good program will deliver results but I am not so sure given the ongoing disappointing boy results for Forstville.

Likewise Norwood. A very good U12 team last year but nothing this year? How important is development v attracting talent (and I didn't use the "R" word)

I think Norwood has a few of last years 12s in div 1 in 14s and they are only 15 behind Sturt (much closer than West, that is for sure) and will continue to get better and should dominate next year.

You cant really base any of the final 4 standings at the end of the Summer Season as a true indication of the best teams in each division, teams didnt play everyone twice. Teams finishing 3rd 4th 5th & 6th could change dramatically during the winter once its a even draw. Just need to wait and see, what clubs can back up the summer season results in the winter.
