Kings looking to keep Knight, Madgen, Martin, Dann

His American imports are unlikely to return but Sydney Kings coach Ian Robilliard has put four of his current squad on his immediate wish-list for next season..

Big man Julian Khazzouh, a contender for the NBL's MVP award tonight, is the only player currently contracted to the club but Robilliard wants more of his players back in purple for next season.

"We have a committee structure that is prolonging things," Robilliard said when asked the playing future of his men.

"There are some frustrations and uncertainties in the playing group."

I'm not sure about Martin and Knight myself, but I would definitely be keeping Khazzouh, Madgen and a new-found version of Dann filling a role in coming off the bench. Dickel would also be worth keeping too to help continue mentoring Madgen.

Anyone know why there's no mention of Luke Cooper? Hasn't come back from injury strongly enough? I think they can start Cooper/Martin or Dickel/Cooper and do OK.

Knight's on his last legs, but shows enough passion and ability to keep a back-up/leadership role IMO. Playing behind Khazzouh will make for limited opportunities anyway. Knight, Khazzouh and Dann would settle all but the starting PF (presumably?) spot in the front court which is a reasonable place to start from.

I'm a bit surprised they aren't looking to lock up Luke Cooper straight away, I thought he was playing extremely well and fit with the team before he got injured.

I think the people who were wanting the Sixers to lure Madgen back were underestimating the Kings need for him. I imagine he went there on a cheap deal to basically be a 10th man, injuries gave him an opportunity and his value would have skyrocketed. The cost for the Kings to keep him will be pretty steep IMO

I think it'll be tough to nab Madgen back from the Kings as well, but we might as well drive up the price they pay for him right? :D

If he somehow didn't cost us too much, I'd still like to see Madgen at the Sixers. I'd have to rethink that if we signed Gibson though. Neither are very fast, or good penetrators, so we'd probably struggle to break down defences off the dribble and that wouldn't be very good for our offense!

Anyone know why Gilder is 'unlikely to return'? Is he just not interested in the NBL long-term, or are Sydney looking to fill different positions with their imports?

Let Martin go, have Cooper as back up point, and find a decent Import guard.

Find a Ira Clarke clone to protect Kaz.

Love Madgen, but need to run him off more screens, and an Ira Clarke clone would provide.

Dann has improved. He needs to become more of a defensive presence.

Knight provides leadership similar to Dalton brothers.

Also need to find another 3 point specialist. Too many teams collapse on Kaz, and cover Madgen. Another 3 point shooter would space the floor more.......
