Tigers advertise for Head Coaching role

D-Mac's job is not secure...

The NBL's Melbourne Tigers have commenced seeking a new Head Coach as advertised online and via the NBL's official website.

Melbourne Tigers Head Coaching Position

Is D-Mac their man and this is just due diligence? If not, then who do the Tigers go after and/or which coaches should looking at applying?

Smyth is one rumour. Has rung at least one player as though trying to assemble a team.

Smyth's approach sounds like someone ringing around to make up a social team rather than an NBL club! LOL!

No way it'll be Smyth. They'll either make Anstey the head coach or an assistant with the intention of becoming the head coach within a couple of years, even though he's never coached before i believe. He was the one that got Lindsay Gaze pushed out at the end because he didnt want to play for him and was the one who pushed out Al Westover, probably because he's bored in retirement. Has shameless on a string

The rumour months ago was Anstey and Copeland, so I guess we'll see.

Anstey is not a Gaze fan so that wont help him. Would he be a good coach jury's out! I would love to see Smyth back - he lets his teams play! D Mac - no way!!!

Why would he give up a job at the AIS, where's there no pressure at all really, since they're not even in the SEABL this year so they don't have to win games, to coach for seamus, who just fired the second winningest coach in league history

Anstey has officially stepped up into the coaching game by taking over the reigns of Camberwell in the Big V's Division 2 this season (his brother Kevin is also playing for this team).

Copeland has landed as a game-day style coaching advisor for Eltham's talent-laden Big V State Championship men's team (Greer, Tragardh, Leonard etc) and junior development type role at Eltham.

Would be interesting to see that coaching duo eventuate.

In my opinion, I think it pretty low for all the Tigers members to receive and email asking for applications for head coach.

Who in their right mind do they expect is going to apply for a Head Coaching position that is advertised through email and on the NBL homepage? That's not how you find coaches such as Brian Goorjan etc.

Also, what kind of image does that send to the fans? Surely a professional basketball team will already have their eyes on potential replacement coaches and be following that up themselves. Not waiting on applications of ust anybody!

They'd be ringing around the usual suspects but also putting it online and showing fans lets all their supporters know what they are doing and that they are leaving no stone unturned in learning what's out there.

just a cover up to make it look like they're looking around, when they've already decided on anstey. although apparently not everyone on the board agrees with that decision. with good reason

I'd much rather see D-MAC any day of the year. Has Anstey ever coached before?

I expected maybe a press release saying they are looking but not actually asking for applications!

This isn't "Get waxy a date", this is a head coaching role guys!!

totally agree. shows the total lack of professionalism at that club. firing coaches still under contract and not paying them out, emailing members about applying for the head coaching position, cutting players without pay-outs, and now probably hiring someone who has never coached before

You dont think that people that know the Head coachs job is available for the Tigers that people all around the world wont know?
Is anyone that clever here to know that the job hasn't been advertised elsewhere probablt not.
